FIVE BROOKLYN INSURANCE MEN LOSE LICENSES
Brooklyn Standard Union 18 July 1929 Revoked as Disciplinary Measures, CONWAY Says Licenses of five Brooklyn insurance agents have been revoked by State Superintendent of Insurance Albert CONWAY, it was learned yesterday. The agents were: Harry BERGEN, of Harry Bergen Inc., of 148 Montague street. BERGEN was charged with "failure to account for premiums collected and with violation of the provisions of Section 141 of the State Insurance Las, in that he collected on a bond and amount in excess of the proper premium." He was licensed as a agent for Mutual Life Insurance Company, Travelers Insurance Company, Capital City Surety Company, Guardian Casualty Company, United States Merchants and Shippers Insurance Company, Federal Union Insurance Company. Julius SHER, of 203 Havemeyer street. SHER, who was licensed as an insurance broker and as an agent of the Equitable Life Assurance Society, was charges with failure to account for premiums collected and with engaging in the insurance brokerage business as a partner of an unlicensed individual. Harry HAYKIN, of 364 Hopkinson avenue. HAYKIN was licensed as an agent of the Mutual Life Insurance Company. He was charged with failure to account for premiums collected and with acting as an insurance broker without authority from the State Department. Louis J. GOLDMAN, of 515 Dahill road. GOLDMAN was charged with failure to account for premiums collected. He was licensed as an agent for the Travelers Insurance Company. Michael LEVINE, of 373 Fulton street. LEVINE was said to have given worthless checks in payment of premiums. He was licensed as a broker and as an agent of the Equitable and the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company. The revoking of licenses to act as insurance agents and brokers is a displicinary measure, it was said at the complaint bureau of the State Department of Insurance.
