THE OLD MERCHANTS OF NEW YORK CITY Second Series By Walter Barrett, Clerk 1863 P R E F A C E The extraordinary success that followed the publication of the First Series of THE OLD MERCHANTS OF NEW YORK, was quite unexpected. Many editions have been exhausted, and it is still in active demand. This, the Second, is the continuation of the series in regular order, and may be found more interesting even than the first. The material is as correct as it was possible to make it up to the time of the publication. The chapters will be fully revised and corrected in subsequent editions, and the author will cordially thank any one who is better informed than himself as to particular merchants or their families, alluded to in any of the series or chapters, if they will send their corrections, or additional information, to the residence of WALTER BARRETT, Clerk
