New York  Business / Corporation Listings Online

For anyone whose family owned a business in NY, 
the DoS (Department of State) finally put their 
database online and it can be searched at:

http://wdb.dos.state.ny.us/corp_public/CORP_WDB.CORP_SEARCH_INPUTS.show


I was able to find my family's business, found the date
they became a corporation and which county they filed in. 
Make sure you select to search in "All" instead of 
"Active only" if the business no longer exists. 

If you go the the NY DoS homepage you can find the 
address to write for the original documents - 
 (They sent me, for $5, a copy of the file for incorportation 
which included all three brothers' addresses and signatures.
They also sent me a change of address form for when the 
company moved to Woodstown, NJ.)
