SIX PERSONS INJURED IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
AUTO STRIKES BOY, FRACTURING HIS SKULL; WOMAN THROWN FROM MACHINE

Leon KRINSKY, 7 years old, of 509 Gates Avenue, while at play in Gates Avenue, 
near Marcy Avenue, suffered a fracture of the skull, when he ran into 
the path of the automobile driven by Arthur SEDER, of 621a Monroe Street. 
Ambulance Surgeon TUCKER took the boy to St. John's Hospital. He is not 
expected to live. Witnesses declared that SEDER was not at fault. 
No arrest was made.

George LAUDERBACK, 7,  of 54 Clinton Avenue, roller skating on Cumberland Street, 
near Myrtle Avenue, was struck by a motorcycle, whose operator failed to stop. 
LAUDERBACK sustained  concussion of the brain and lacerations of the scalp and face. 
He was taken to Cumberland Street Hospital. 

Mary REILLY, 22, of 424 Mulberry Street, Newark, N.J., was a passenger in an 
automobile driven by Arthur MOUNTBURG, of 403 Mulberry Street, Newark, N.J., 
yesterday. At Church and Coney Island Avenues, it collided with an automobile 
driven by Adolph MITCHEL, of 1112 Glenwood Road. The woman was hurled from the 
car and sustained contussions of the head and back. She left for home after being 
treated by an ambulance surgeon.

Walter FISHER, 10, of 215 Varet Street, rollerskating at Seigel and White Streets, 
was knocked down by a motorcycle, owned and driven by Salvator CUZIMONO, of 
103 Walton Street. The boy suffered internal injuries and was taken to his home.

Four-year old Lillian OLUNEA, of 4114 Fifteenth Avenue, was crossing
Thirteenth Avenue and Forty-second Street when struck by an automobile driven 
by William AUERBACK, of 117 Bay Thirty-fourth Street. She sustained a possible 
fracture of the left leg.

Harry RUBIN, 10, of 503 Stone Avenue, while playing in the street at Stone and 
Blake Avenues, was run over by an automobile owned and driven by Hyman FORTNOL, 
of 503 Thatford Street. An ambulance surgeon from St. Mary's Hospital treated 
him for contusions of the right leg.

4 October 1922
Miss Agnes DOWSEY, 55 years old of Claphan Avenue, Manhasset, died in the 
Flushing Hospital yesterday of a fracture of the skull she suffered early 
Saturday evening when she was struck by an automobile while crossing Plandome 
Road in front of the Reformed Dutch Church of Manhasset.  She was carried into 
the home of the Rev. Oscar MADDEAUS, pastor of the church and was treated by 
Dr. DOWSEY and Dr. VAN KLEECK and later removed to the hospital.  The automobile 
did not stop.  Miss DOWSEYs body was removed to her late home yesterday afternoon. 
Funeral services will be held in the Reformed Church of Manhasset at 4 o'clock 
tomorrow and burial will follow at Potsdam, N.Y.

Thomas FITZGERALD, 45, address unknown, while walking the railroad tracks on 
the embankment at Meyers Avenue and Queens boulevard yesterday,  was struck 
by a Long Island Railroad train and was instantly killed according to 
Dr. DIAMOND of St Johns Hospital.  His body was taken to the Newtown station.

Sergeant John KEANE, 40, attached to the Bergen Street Station, and living at 
2 Savannah Avenue, while riding in a Police Department automobile, suffered 
bruises of both legs early today when the machine, in charge of Policeman 
Edward O'DONNELL of the same station, was struck by a taxi owned and driven 
by Fred FRESEN, 707 Chauncey Street, at Prospect Park West and Montgomery Place.  
The Sergeant was thrown against the windshield of his car.  He was attended by 
Dr. WEINSTEIN of Jewish Hospital, and reported sick.  FRESEN was not arrested, 
it was said the accident was unavoidable.  

Paul  EICHLER, 30, of 399 Chester Street, is in the Bradford Street Hospital 
today in a serious condition suffering from a coumpound fracture of the right 
leg  and internal injuries which he sustained when he was struck by an auto 
driven by Nathan COSTIO, of Main Street, Patchogue, at Rockaway and Atlantic 
Avenues, early today.  EICHLER is a delivery man for the High Ground Dairy and 
had just delivered a bottle of milk and was returning to the wagon when he was 
struck by the auto.

Katherine LOMBARDO, 9, of 146 Ninth Street, crossing in front of her home 
yesterday afternoon, was knocked down by an auto owned by Charles HODTRON, 
1432 E. Forth Street.  She sustained slight injuries and after being attended 
went home.

August HASEN, 6, of 73 Melrose Street, crossing Broadway and Myrtle Avenue, 
was struck by an automobile driven by Louis BEIRLEIN, of 149 Powers Street.  
HASEN was taken to Beth Moses Hospital suffering from lacerations of the 
knees and arms.

Anthony ANGELANO, 11, of 197 Sands Street, stealing a ride on a Vanderbilt 
avenue car, at Concord Street and Hudson Avenue, fell to the street.  
He sustained lacerations of the nose and left for home.

CHAUFFEUR FLEES ACCIDENT - Patrick DEGIANI, 17, of 241 Hudson Avenue, crossing 
St. Edwards and Sycamore streets, was struck by a machine, the chauffeur of 
which escaped.  He was attended for slight injuries and left for home.

William  KAUFMAN, 10, of 420 Beverly Road, crossing Church and Gravesend Avenues, 
was struck by a taxi owned and driven by Milton ALEXANDER.  The boy was taken to 
Kings County Hospital suffering from contusions of the head and abrasions of the 
right knee.

Gustano MASONE, 10, of 221 Hinsdale Street, crossing Powell Street and 
Belmont Avenue, was struck by an automobile driven by Joseph YOUNG of 
76 Powell Street.  He was removed to St. Mary's Hospital, suffering a 
fracture of the left ankle.

Patrick MAHONEY, 27, of 418 East Second Street, while riding in a Yale taxi, 
jumped from the machine to the street, in front of his home.  He was attended 
for slight injuries and went home.

John COYLE, 6, 425 Third Avenue, stealing a ride on an automobile owned by 
Ray THOMAS, of 428 Third Avenue, at Seventh Street and Third Avenue, fell 
to the street, sustaining lacerations of the left leg.  After being attended 
he left for home.

BOY ON SKATES STRUCK
Frederico DIAS, 12, of 1922 Pacific Street, while roller-skating in front of 
his home, was struck by an automobile. He sustained lacerations of the right 
arm and a possible fracture of the leg.  He was taken to St. Mary's Hospital.  
The chauffeur sped away. 

Thomas WALSH, 11, of 299 Wythe Avenue, crossing the street at Wythe Avenue and
South First Street last night was run down by a horse and wagon in chage of 
Christian NEST, of _95 Grand Street.  The boy sustained injuries to his right 
eye, contusions on the face and  probable internal injuries and was taken to 
Williamsburg Hospital by Surgeon GROFF.

AUTO AND TROLLEY COLLIDE
An automobile driven by Joseph SIMESIA, 55, of 166 Maujer Street, and having 
as a passenger his niece, Virginia  FERRA, 8, of the same address, collided 
with a Broadway trolley car in charge of Motorman Harold MATTHEWSON, 
of Clinton and Montague Streets, at Broadway and Hewes Street.  
SIMESIA and the FERRA girl were thrown from the motor vehicle to the 
pavement sustaining lacerations of the scalp and cuts on the face and hands.  
They were attended by Ambulance Surgeon LOGAN of St. Catharine's Hospital and 
taken to their homes.  The auto was badly damaged, as was the side of the 
trolley car, and several panes of glass in the trolley were shattered.  
The passengers were shaken up, but none of them were injured.

Nathan LATOYER, 5, of 207Stockton Street, was crossing at Stockton Street and 
Tompkins Avenue last night when he was run down by an automobile driven by 
Samuel PERLMUTTER, of 222 Rivington Street, Manhattan.  The boy was attended 
by Ambulance Surgeon DOSHAY, of Williamsburg Hospital for cuts on the face 
and head and bruises on the body.  He was taken to his home.  

GIRL FALLS FROM CAR
While alighting from a Graham Avenue trolley car at Harrison and Flushing Avenues 
last night, Miss Eva ZABEL, 17, of 81 Gerry Street, missed her step and fell 
to the pavement, sustaining scalp lacerations and cuts on the face.  After 
receiving treatment from Ambulance Surgeon MENDELSOHN of Cumberland Street Hospital, 
she was taken to her gome.

Arthur GALAM, 7,  of 828 Fulton Street, crossing Washington and Greene Avenues, 
was struck by an automobile owned and driven by Michael LAMANO, of 2056 Bath Avenue.  
The boy sustained a fracture of theleft leg and was taken home in an ambulance.

Alfred SOPHER, 7, of 153 Ashford Street, at Arlington Avenue and Essex Street, 
was struck by a machine driven by Thomas CASANONE, of 586  Hart Street.  
He sustained slight injuries and went home.

Evelyn CAPLOWITZ, 15 months old, of 70 Grattan Street, while playing in the roadway 
in front of her home, was struck by a horse attached to a wagon driven by 
Jacob DUBOR, of 601 Hendrix Street.  The infant suffered a fracture of the 
right leg and was taken to St. John's Hospital.

Walter ENGELBERG, 13, of 694 1/2 Fifth Avenue, crossing Seventeenth Street and 
Seventh Avenue, was hit by an automobile owned by F.H. MARSHLANDER, of 
352 Fifty-third Street.  The boy was taken to M.E. Hospital suffering from 
a fracture of the left arm.

Leo HUTTER, 37 years old, of 597 Gates Avenue, was taken to the Bushwick Hospital 
today by Dr. Mensher, suffering from internal injuries sustained when he was 
thrown to the ground,  as a north bound Ralph Avenue trolley car struck a peddler's 
wagon which he was driving at Ralph Avenue and Monroe Street.

Frank GIODANO, motorcycle policeman of 471 Humboldt street who is attached to 
the Jamaica police station is in the Jamaica Hospital suffering from injuries 
inflected Thursday night when he was struck by an automobile in which Gov. 
MILLER was riding.  The policeman was escorting the Governor and his party 
through Hillside avenue and when he slowed down for traffic at Queens boulevard 
the Governor's motor ran against his cycle and three him to the pavement.  
He suffered lacerations of the right knee but remounted his machine and paid no 
attention to his injuries until 6 o'clock last evening, when he reported sick and 
later went to the hospital. 

Joseph B. MCGOVERN of Motorcycle Squad No. 2 Manhattan and living at 731 
Fifty-seventh street, this borough, was escorting George F. MCDONALD, a 
banker down Fifth avenue from the Lotus Club to the Hotel Commodore last night 
when a taxi cab running the opposite direction, struck his machine and threw him 
to the pavement.  MCGOVERN was taken to the West Forty-seventh street station and 
attended by Dr. MODANCE of, Flower Hospital was found that he had a deep laceration 
of the right leg.  Then he went home.

Policeman Jeremiah SULLIVAN, 33 attached to the Poplar street station was struck by 
a Smith street surface car.  He was attended by a doctor of Cumberland Street Hospital 
for slight injuries and went home.

Bernard MALONE, 35 of 100 Verona place at Washington avenue and Empire boulevard 
was struck by an auto owned and driven by James GRAME, of 88 Erasmus street.  He 
was attended for slight injuries of the leg and taken to Kings County Hospital.

Samuel LEIBOWITZ, 29 of 662 George avenue, was cranking his machine at 118 Waverly 
avenue when the car started and jammed him against another machine.  He suffered 
injuries of the spines and was taken to Cumberland Street Hospital.

Dominick STADOLA 48, of 558 Kingston avenue, at work at Kings Highway and East Fifth 
street, was struck by an auto driven by James GRAHAM of 2321 Eighty-first street.  
STADOLA was carrying a pail of hot tar at the time of the accident and it was upset, 
burning him on the left forearm.  GRAHAM was arrested and STADOLA left for home after 
being attended by a doctor from Kings County Hospital.

Edward Leonard, 4 of 204 Kingsland avenue crossing in front of his home was struck 
by an auto driven by James O'KEEFE of 94 Maujer street.  The child was taken to 
Greenpoint Hospital suffering from contusions and abrasions.

Milton TEDFOR, 11 of 1654 East Fourth street, crossing Ocean parkway and avenue 
L was struck by an auto owned and driven by William MARCUS of 462 Seventh avenue.  
He sustained slight injuries and went home.

Woman Taken To Hospital After Car Knock Her Down
As Robert TROWSDALE, 67 years old of 9136 116th street, Richmond Hill and 
his wife Mary, 70, were crossing the street at Jamaica Avenue and 114th 
street after attending a motion picture theater last night they were stuck 
by an automobile owned and driven by Harry HUBER, of 1114 126th street, 
Richmond Hill.  TROWSDALE suffered a fracture of the knee and left arm.  
His wife sustained lacerations of the scalp and right side.  Dr. RETROFITS 
of St. Mary Immaculate Hospital treated them and they went home

Four person were slightly injured while ride in an automobile yesterday 
afternoon at Warren street and Third avenue, when their machine driven by 
Adolf TAYLOR of 716 Forest Avenue collided with a car driven by Joseph MCVEY 
of 442 Third street.  rose ROSENTHAL, 33 of 1507 Charles street, Manhattan, 
suffered lacerations of the scalp; Louis ROSENTHAL 43, 310 Smith street,
lacerations of the scalp, Sarah, 35 same address sprained left knee and 
Ester TAYLOR, 44 wife of Adolf TAYLOR, contusions of the back.  All were 
passengers in TAYLOR'S care.  They were attended and went home

Florence STOBAR, 4 of 1908 Eightieth street, crossing Eight first street 
and Nineteenth avenue was struck by an auto driven by Paul SAUFIELIPO of 
1561 Seventy-seventh street.  She was treated and went home.

Lillian TERRILL of 344 First street while riding in an auto owned and 
driven by George CONRAD,  of 6 Sixty ninth street, suffered contusions 
of the left arm at Fourth avenue and Sixty fourth street, when Conrad's 
car collided with a machine owned and driven by Leo Beckman of 2035 and 
driven by Leo BECKMAN of 2035 Seventy-third street.  
She was attended and went home.

Woman's Arm Fractured
Margaret CRAWFORD of 426 Second street at Flatbush avenue and Fulton street 
was knocked own by an auto owned by Lester JONES of 250 Ocean avenue.  
She suffered a compound fracture of the left-arm and was taken to 
Holy Family Hospital.

Joseph MARCHICA 8 of 121 Bay Fourteenth street while riding a bicycle at 
Bay Fourteenth street.  he was taken to Coney Island Hospital by 
Dr. Mellon suffering from a fracture of the left leg.

Frank Cuccia, 39 of 194 Manhattan avenue, alighting from a Union avenue 
trolley car at Flushing avenue and Steinwix street, fell sustaining 
lacerations of the scalp.  He went home after being treated by Dr. LUXIKY 
of Wyckoff Heights Hospital.

Armando Feliceti, 9 of 1294 Gates avenue while hitching on a Gates avenue 
trolley car in front of his home fell suffering contusions of the scalp.  
he went home after being treated.

Samuel PATTERMANN 8 of 617 Metropolitan avenue riding a bicycle at 
Oakland and Java streets was struck by an automobile driven by Roman ZINA 
of 176 Newel street.  He sustained abrasions and contusions of 
the chest and went home.

James DEINNING 42 of 104 Eighth avenue, crossing Flatbush and Eight avenue 
was struck by a automobile owned and driven by Emil LACHMANN of 277 Sixth ave.  
After being treated by a private physician for minor injuries he went home.

Falls Off Trolly
Axel LANDQUIST 31 of 301 St. marks avenue alighting from a Reid avenue 
trolly car to Utica avenue and Avenue M, fell lacerating his scalp.  
he went home after treatment

Leiser ELISEZITY, 65 of 1634 President street crossing Eastern parkway and 
Albany avenue was struck by an automobile owned an driven by John  BAXTER 
of 290 Crescent street.  Dr. PINION of Peck memorial Hospital treated 
ELISEZITY for a fracture of the right collarbone and lacerations of the 
scalp and took him to that institution.

Becky KATZMAN 45 of 764 Williams avenue was riding in an auto driven 
by her son Isadore, when it collided with a Fifth avenue care at Twelfth street.  
She suffered lacerations of the scalp and internal injuries, but was able to go home.

FOURTEEN PERSONS HURT IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
     Three persons were injured last night when the automobile in which they 
were riding, driven by Samuel GRUMBERG, of 650 Howard avenue, collided at New 
Lots and Sheffield avenue with an automobile driven by Harry GREENBERG, of 278 
New Lots avenue.
     The injured persons, all of 449 Williams avenue, are Minnie SALUSKY, 8 
years old, contusions of hips:  Paul SCHWARTZ, 55, contusions of left side, and 
Rebecca SALUSKY, 26, contusions of hips.  They were attended by Dr. SANSON of 
Bradford Street Hospital.

     Solomon ARGENTO, 37, of 548 Sixty-fifth street, while crossing 
Sixty-third street and Nineteenth avenue, was struck by an automobile owned and driven 
by Solomon UNGER, of 1826 Sixty-fifth street.  He was taken to Coney Island 
Hospital suffering from lacerations of the back.

     Tony LOMBARDO, 7, of 170 Humboldt street, crossing Humboldt street and 
Montrose avenue, was struck by an automobile owned by Harry HARTMAN, of  1888 
Cornelia street.  LOMBARDO was taken to St. Catherine's Hospital suffering from 
a fracture of the left thigh.

     Samuel LEHRMAN, 33. of 118 Middleton street, while riding a bicycle on 
Harrison avenue at Heyward street, was struck by an automobile owned by Henry 
HEMNINEGE, of 566 Crown street.  He was treated for scalp wounds and left for 
home.

     While riding on an ice wagon, the driver of which has not been 
identified, in front of 122 Lott avenue, Frank OFFENER, 4, of 2507 Tilden avenue, 
sustained lacerations of the left foot when the wagon ran over him.  He went home 
after being treated.

     Charles DREYER, 42, of 443 Third street, crossing Flatbush avenue and 
Fulton street, was struck by an automobile driven by James ROONEY, of 101 
Fifteenth street.  He was treated for contusions of both knees and left for home.
     While crossing in front of 288 Coney Island avenue, Denny LEHN, 40, 
living at Wythe avenue and Rush streets, fell on the sidewalk and sustained a 
possible fracture of the skull.  He was taken by Dr. SMITH to Kings County 
Hospital.

     Stephen TANEK, 28,  of 475 Forty first street, while working on the "L' 
structure at Sixty-fifth street and Third avenue, was caught between two 
trains.  He sustained lacerations of the right foot and was taken to his home.

      Charles BURKE, 56 , of 59 Herbert street, a passenger on a Graham 
avenue trolley car at Powers street suffered a scalp would when the car was in a 
collision with an automobile driven by John BURKE, of 729 Lafayette avenue.  
BURKE went home after being treated.  The driver of the automobile escaped 
injury. 

     William WATSON, 46, of 606 Sixth avenue, was knocked down by an 
automobile last night while crossing Flatbush avenue at Bergen street.  The machine 
was owned and driven by Gustave GERRARD, of 483 East Eighteenth street, 
Manhattan.  Watson was treated by Dr. THOMASSHEWSKY, of the Jewish Hospital, for a 
possible fracture of the right ankle and went home.

     Evelyn EGER, 6, if 488 Chauncey street, is in the Bushwick Hospital 
suffering from a fractured right leg as a result of being struck last night by the 
rear wheel of a truck driven by Salvatore SIMONETTI, of 300 East 106th st, 
Manhattan, at Rockaway avenue and Chauncey street.  She was taken in a passing 
automobile to the Bushwich Hospital. SIMONETTI was charged with reckless 
driving by Patrolman KANE, of the Ralph avenue station.  He will appear in the 
traffic court tomorrow morning.

     Ethel MILLER, 6, of 2719 Farragut road, was struck by an automobile in 
front of 1382 Flatbush avenue, sustaining injuries of the scalp and knee.  She 
was attended by Dr. SWANSON, of the Kings County Hospital and sent home.  The 
machine was owned and driven by Chester P. POSKE, of 114 Maple street.
