This list DOES NOT include any postoffices in present-day Queens County
located on the Rockaway Peninsula. That area was within the Town of
Hempstead until 1898. See the Nassau County lists, under Hempstead for
those postoffices on part of the Rockaway Peninsula annexed to New York
City in 1898. A large part of the historic Rockaway area remained with the
Town of Hempstead & is now in Nassau County.

This now completes the lists up to 1879 for Suffolk County & current Queens
and Nassau Counties.
