SUIT OVER NELLIE BLY'S FURNITURE DISMISSED
Supreme Court Justice CALLAGHAN  today dismissed an action brought by 
the executors of Mrs. ELIZABETH C. SEAMAN, known as NELLIE BLY, to 
recover $7,000. from the executors of her mother, the late Mrs. MARY COCHRANE.  
The executors of Mrs. SEAMAN claimed that the legal representatives of 
Mrs. COCHRANE had failed to turn over to them furniture which was the property 
of Mrs. SEAMAN.  Mrs. COCHRANE'S executors produced a bill of sale, signed by 
Mrs. SEAMAN.

EIGHTEENTH REPUBLICANS ELECT NEW OFFICERS
Members of the Republican County Committee of the Eighteenth Assembly District 
met in the new campaign headquarters, 1039 St. Johns Place, Monday night, for

NOT SURE ABOUT KISS; SEPARATION IS REFUSED
Supreme Court Justice KAPPER today dismissed a suit for separation 
brought by Mrs. Pearl G. SMITH against Robert SMITH of 66 Seventy-Seventh street.  
SMITH said trouble had been caused in his home by attentions his wife 
received from William MCCULLOUGH a blacksmith also in the real estate business.
	MCCULLOUGH testified that he regarded Mrs. SMITH as a daughter but that 
there was never anything improper between them. He said she acted as a
"dummy" in his real estate transactions.  The concern under which they 
operated was called the "Pearl Mary Realty Company" part of Mrs. SMITH 
name being used in the name of the company.
	Did you every take Mrs. SMITH on your lap and kiss her asked Smith's lawyer.  
Not to my knowledge MCCULLOUGH said while everybody laughed.  You won't 
swear that you didn't will you?  No, and I won't swear that I did.  I 
will not grant this woman a separation Justice KAPPER said.  Complaint dismissed. 

HELD ON THREE COUNTS OF DEFRAUDING BUTCHERS
James Carney, 39 years old who gave no address is held under aggregate bail 
of $2,000 on 3 counts, two of grand larceny and  one of petty larceny for 
examination next Monday before Magistrate LIOTA in the New Jersey avenue court.
	According to Detective Anthony DUFFY of the Miller Avenue station Carney has 
been working a system of answering want advertisements for Brooklyn butchers 
and after obtaining employment robbed them.
	They 3 butchers who appeared against him are Emil FARDER, who owns a store at 
Classon and Jamaica avenues robbed of $37 cash and a gold watch on October 2.  
Henry HAMMERSCHMIDT of 363 Aetna street, managed for William YOUNGMAN at 
127 Nicholas avenue, robbed on July 20 of $10; Betram SUSSEL of 
2785 Fulton street who missed $50 on September 30th.  Following a 
general alarm and description sent out after these thefts, Deceive DUFFY 
recognized and arrested CARNEY on Fulton Street

NO TITLE
A jury before Justice MAY in the Supreme Court today awarded Charles A. SCHALLER, 
of 1642 West Ninth street. a verdict of $7,500 against the PITTS Motor Company 
of 532 Atlantic avenue in an action to recover damages for injuries sustained 
on the evening of Dec. 27, 1921.
 Mr. SCHALLER's attorney Louis ROTHBARD of 375 Fulton street sought to hold the 
Pitts Motor Company responsible for the accident to Mr. SCHALLER although the 
automobile that ran him down was owned and driven by Eugene MARTINO a salesman 
of the company.  it was shown that at the time of the accident MARTINO was on 
his way to a customer of his employer the Pitt Motor Company and that while 
driving his automobile at Eight-sixth street and Twenty-third avenue he ran
 down Mr. SCHALLER fracturing his ankle.  Ray S. JONES was trial counsel for 
the plaintiff.

Workhouse for Gun-Toter
John FISHETTI 33 of 853 Kent avenue Brooklyn, a watchman was sent to the 
workhouse for five days by Magistrate MILLER, in Jamaica court 
yesterday and held in $500 bail for Special Sessions.  The jail 
sentence was for disorderly conduct.  The other charge was carrying 
dangerous weapons.
FISHETTI is said to have refused to pay a second fare on a 
Grand street trolley car at Bach avenue and Grand street, Maspeth 
and when the conduct Henry EHLER told him to get off he said 
to have assaulted him with an umbrella.  Patrolman John DOWNIE 
of Manhattan who was riding in a trolley car behind the one in 
which FISHETTI was a passenger arrest him.  In his pocket he 
found a fullyloaded .22 caliber revolver.

MAN HELD ON CHARGE OF HITTING EX-POLICEMAN
Albert CERCERE, 37 years old, of 292 Columbia street, appeared before 
Magistrate O'NEILL in the Fifth avenue court to-day on a charge of assault, 
and was held in $500 bail for the Court of Special Sessions. The complainant, 
John P. CALLEN, 23 years old, an ex-policeman, of 54 First place, accuses 
CERCERI of striking him on the head with his fist on Oct. 10 last without 
provocation.

SERVED WITH WHISKEY TESTIFY AGAINST WOMAN
    Mrs. Isabella ODDO, 40 years old, of 229 Hamilton avenue, who conducts a 
grocery store at the same address was held by Magistrate O'NEILL in the Fifth 
avenue court today in  $1,000  bail for the Grand Jury, on a charge of 
violating the prohibition law.  Patrolman Thomas CURLEY, of the  Hamilton 
avenue station, alleged he saw Mrs. ODDO serving two glasses of whiskey to 
two men in her store.  The two men she served appeared in court today and 
testified they were served whiskey.
    Harold MANNING, 18 years old, of 130 Ninth street was also before 
Magistrate O'NEILL on a similar charge.  He was arrested in a rear room of 
the store at the above address by Detective George SHANNON, of inspector MC 
DONALD'S staff, who alleges he found there a quantity of whiskey. He was held 
in $500 bail for hearing on Oct. 23.
    Carl DRUGGE, 39 years old, of 4418 Eighth avenue, proprietor of a 
restauant, was arrested by Detective George LENNON of Inspector SACKETT'S 
staff, who alleged he found a bottle of whiskey in DRUGEE's hip pocket.  He 
was held in $500 bail for a hearing Oct. 23.

SALOONKEEPER CONNORS GETS SIXTY DAYS IN JAIL
     John CONNORS, proprietor of a saloon at (?)159 Nevins street, who 
pleaded not guilty to a charge of selling whiskey last February, was 
convicted by a jury and sentenced today by Federal Judge GARVIN to serve 
sixty days in jail.

EXTORTION VICTIM HELD FOR DRY LAW VIOLATION
William GERRES alleged to be part owner with Anton SCHIMMEL of a saloon at 
5122 Second avenue, where two policemen were arrested on charges of 
extortion, was today taken before Federal Commissioner HENNESSY on a 
complaint charging him with selling whiskey and maintaining a nuisance.
      The arret was made by Federal Agents McCANN, NEARY and HEATLEY, who 
allege the first two purchased drinks drinks at 50 cents each. GERRES was 
held in $1,000 bail for examination.  A summons was left for the other 
alleged partner SCHIMMEL, for maintaining a nuisance.

JURY AWARDS $12,000 TO INJURED TRUCKMAN
A jury before Supreme Court Justice ASPINALL today returned a verdict of 
$12,000 in favor of Frank GUIDO against the Brooklyn City Railroad Company 
for injuries he sustained last December when a coal truck he was driving was 
struck by a one-man trolley at Sixth street and Third avenues.  This makes a 
total of $155,000 worth of verdicts returned in favor of plaintiffs before 
Justice ASPINALL in the last week.

**OWNER GRANTED WRIT FOR SAND REMOVAL
Supreme Court Justice VAN SIC today granted a writ of mandan on the 
application of Ralph GROSRA(?), directing Borough President RIEG(??)MANN to 
give him a permit to      c(???) sand from his lot on East Forty-fifth 
street, near Lenox road. T(??) section was claimed to be in a residence  
zone, but Justice VAN SIC said this applied only to buildings (??) business 
purposes.  The mandan was granted with $25 costs.

Mrs. RABELL Divorced From Dental School Head
Supreme Court Justice John TIERNEY, in Manhattan, yesterday, awarded a decree 
of divorce to Mrs. Marie Dorothy CARY RABELL, of 12 West Sixty-fourth street, 
Manhattan, from U. L. RABELL, president of the Bodes School of Mechanical 
Dentistry, with offices in Brooklyn, Buffalo and Philadelphia and co-author with 
Charles BODES of a text book on mechanical dentistry.

GRAND JURY TO HEAR REGISTRATION FRAUDS
      Special Deputy Attorney General Grover M. MOSCOWITZ, today will present 
to the Grand Jury additional evidence adduced by his investigation into 
illegal registration.  Announcement was made at his office that several indictments 
are expected to be handed down as the result of facts already submitted to 
the jury.
     -Mr. MOSKOWITZ says he has learned that a great number of persons in 
Kings County have registered illegally.  As soon as these are checked up they will 
be turned over to the consideration of the Grand Jury.
     -Rocco CIROLLO of 491 Keap street has been arrested at the direction of 
the special deputy.  He registered in the Eighteenth Election district or the 
Fourteenth Assembly District and is alleged to be an ex-convict.  The prisoner 
was taken before County Judge HASKELL, who held him in $!,000 bail.
     -A similar case is revealed in the arrest of Alexander GOOSLEY, of 30 
Sumpter street who enrolled in the Thirty-seventh election district of the Fifth 
Assembly District.  GOOSLEY was arrested on a warrant issued by Judge HASKELL.
     -Julius BRODY, of 1782 Bergen street, registered in the Forty-fifth 
election district of the Seventeenth Assembly District.  Records show, according to 
Mr. MOSCOWITZ, that BRODY was convicted of bribery in General Sessions, 
Manhattan and was fined $1,000.
