Bolden was 116-years old. Charlotte Pierce of the Mid-South Health and Rehabilitation Center, Boldenís residence at the time of her demise, indicated that a recent stroke she experienced in 1994 impaired her speech and caused her to spend a good portion of her last two years sleeping. According to published reports, Bolden had 40 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, 150 great-great grandchildren, 220 great-great-great grandchildren and 75 great-great-great-great grandchildren. The recently passed 116-year old gained her recognition as the worldís oldest living person following the death of Ecuadorís Maria Esther de Capovilla, who was also 116.
