COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES
     The spacious schoolroom at Miss Whitcombs seminary for young ladies, at 
No. 191 Clinton st., was filled to repleton last evening, the occasion being 
the annual commencement exercises  of that institution. The walls were 
handsomely festooned with bunting and various emblems, while near the 
platform were arranged a profusion of flowers. 

The preliminary exercises consisted of music and reading the roll 
and the Secretary's report, by Miss Florence S. REEVE; 

Salutatory by Miss Julia B. LININGTON,  
"Greeting Glee" sung by a choir of young ladies.

The comsositions, recitations, and debates, all showed a degree of preparation,
culture and advancement that reflected great credit on the preceptors of the 
institution. The applause  throughout the evening was frequent and hearty.
The exercises were supplemented by a report on examinations, 
presentations of diplomas by Rev, Dr. STORRS, class song and benediction. 

The young graduates  this year are the Misses:

Jessie E. PRENTICE 
Annie E. KIRBY, all of this city.
