THE CLASS OF '78 ENTERTAIN THEIR FRIENDS

The class of '78 of Public School No. 1, corner of Adams and Concord streets, 
gave an entertainment to their friends at the schoolhouse yesterday afernoon. 
Among those present were 
Mr. Alexander FORMAN, 
Mr. L.V.D. HARDENBERG, 
Dr. T.J. WHEEDEN, of the Local Committee; 
Rev. Arthur CROSBY,
Mr. C.R. ABBOT, the Principal. 

The exercises consisted of piano solos and duets, dialogues, 
recitations and vocal solos. In opening the program, 
Frank J. HENSHEW, one of the class, who acted as director, said: 
"These boys and girls are not graduates. They are members of the 
academic class, whose day has come, and who, like members of all former 
classes, intend to have some fun. They are not today reaching out towards 
the literary and scientific, and are not anxious for anything but to please 
their friends and all who have been pupils in No. 1."

The scholars were much applauded, and several were presented with bouquets. 
The teacher of the class is Miss E.M. PHILLIPS.
