Miss WHITCOMB’s Seminary

   The commencement exercises of Miss WHITCOMB’s Seminary were given last
evening before a crowded audience in the lecture hall of the school, 191
Clinton street.

   The graduates, namely: 
Matilda H. SPELLMAN, 
Pauline BECAR, 
Mary S. SMITH,
Marian P. CULYER, 
Lillian M. JOHNSON, 
Alma C. JUNGHANS 
Susan K. TAYLOR 
and a number of other scholars with Miss WHITCOMB and Miss GROSVENOR, 
entered the hall in procession singing the Evening Hymn. 
The graduates and nine of the other young ladies ascended the platform 
and took seats there. 
After Rev. A.J. HUTTON had offered prayer, 
Miss Lillian M. JOHNSON, a pretty and graceful young lady, spoke.

   Miss A. C. JUNGHANS, from the West Indies, who has received her education
in Miss WHITCOMB’s school, read an essay in French entitled 'Le Grand
Corneille.' 
The Valedictory was by Miss Matilda H. SPELLMAN.
