Celebration by the Graduating Class of No. 1.

graduated with honors, and to celebrate this event the principal, Mr. ABBOTT,
gave an excellent musical and literary entertainment. The following gentlemen
occupied seats on the platform:

There was also a large assemblage of the scholars' parents and friends. The
exercises were opened by a piano duet by Misses May WYMAN and Lily
HAYWARD, "The Lark and the Nightingale" was sung by the school, Clara
EMORY recited "The Fortune Hunter", Nellie COLE gave a recitation which
was followed by a song by the scholars, and a chorus of young ladies of the
leading classes. The remainder of the programme was as follows:
The recitation"Who Killed Tom Roper?" by Frank HAYWARD;
a duet by Misses Victoria DUNCAN and Lily HAYWARD;
a recitation entitled "Spring", by Miss Mary CHASE;
a solo by Victoria DUNCAN, in which she was accompanied by the chorus;
the recitation "Faith", by Miss Flora NOLTING;
a piano and violin solo, by Professor WAGNER and Conrad FRANK;
a recitation entitled "True Success: by Miss Florence LIPPINCOTT;
duet, "Like the Lark" by Lily HAYWARD and Ella STORER;
"Our Public Schools", by Herbert STUDWELL,
after which the graduates were presented with their diplomas. The
exercises were brought to a close with the singing of the hymn, "Arise".
June 30, 1882
Most interesting graduating and closing exercises took place at
Public School No. 1, corner of Adams and Concord streets, this
afternoon. This school has long held high rank among the schools
of the city, and it may be said the Mr. C. R. ABBOTT, the principal,
is one of the most popular and careful instructors in Brooklyn.
