Miss Fannie KURTH Receives a Handsome Testimonial
Brooklyn Union Argus June 30, 1882 Miss Fannie KURTH Receives a Handsome Testimonial from her Associates in Public School No. 3. Public School No. 3, Bedford avenue, yesterday afternoon was the scene of an exceedingly pleasant affair gotten up in honor of Miss Fannie KURTH, one of the graduates of the Class of '82, when that young lady was presented with an elegant ebony music stand in recognition of the valuable service she has rendered the school by playing the piano as an accompaniment to the daily singing and on every other occasion when the school needed a pianist. There were present Mr. Eugene D. BERRI, Chairman of the Local Committee; Mr. B. Y. CONKLIN, Principal of the school and a good representation of teachers and scholars. Mr. CONKLIN said it was not often that we meet with anyone who will continually and faithfully labor for the benefit of others without the hope of fee or reward. But we have such a one with us now. The young lady he referred to was Miss Fannie KURTH, who for nine years had been a pupil of No. 3 and had never missed a day except through sickness. She had ever been ready to assist the school; her great industry and success had been an incentive to others and she had always proved herself a model pupil. Her piano playing had been of unspeakable value to the school and in recognition of her services, Mr. CONKLIN tendered her this gift (pointing to the music stand); it was from the whole school, for every class had interested itself in the matter. Miss KURTH was deeply affected and retired amid the congratulations of the company. Transcribed Margaret Ransom RETURN to 1880 GRADUATE MAIN RETURN to GRADUATE MAIN RETURN to BROOKLYN MAIN
