29 June 1900 Brooklyn Daily Eagle Whitestone Graduates Whitestone, L.I, June 29 - The commencement exercises of the Whitestone Public School were held yesterday afternoon in Knab's Pavilion. The class of '00 was the largest, with one exception, in the history of the school. It numbered seventeen, thirteen boys and four girls, as follows: CLANCY, John William COLDEN, Charles Senff DEVINS, Hugh James HARPELL, Frederick JUNGREN, Charles Arthur MC KENNA, John Vincent MILLER, Herbert Eugene MITCHELL, Reginald MURPHY, Francis Joseph NEWMAN, Thomas McGill PELISSIER, Bertha Gabriella SCHNEEMAN, Albert TRILSCH, Louis Oscar VAN WAGENEN, Helen WALTERS, Grace Ethel WELSH, Frank John WHITAKER, Edna Frances Original essays and orations were delivered by members of the class. The exercises closed with the presentation of diplomas and an address to the class by Associate Superintendent John J. CHICKERING of the Queens Borough School Board. Miss Edith ARMSTRONG, the teacher of the graduating class, was presented with a silk umbrella by her pupils, and Principal Robert L. CONANT was also remembered. Principal CONANT entertained the graduating class at his home on Seventh avenue last evening.
