P.S. 106 PRESENTS 77 WITH DIPLOMAS
Grammar School 106, Cornelia street, of which Joseph V. WITHERBEE is
principal, held its commencement exercises at 10:30 this morning, when 77
graduates were presented with diplomas at having concluded their elementary school
course. The students were responsible for the greater part of a very
entertaining programme, which included recitations, a scene from "Julius Caesar," songs
and a fan drill, in addition to addresses to the graduates by Frank I. BROWN
and District Superintendent S. T. STEWART.
Nellie BRINK recited "The Vain King," by Prof. VAN DYKE; Isidore
SCHOTTLANDER read "The Relief of Lucknow," and Matthew SPALLETTA and Nathan PALZER
appeared in the famous quarrel scene from Shakespeare's tragedy.
