School 18 Alumni Honors Old Teacher
- Edward BUSH Guest at Banquet of Old Graduates at Hanover Club.
- Recalls Days of Long Ago
- Venerable Principal, Now 86 Years Old, Still Active

A touching tribute was paid last night to Edward BUSH, for more than half a
century principal of Public School 18, Maujer and Leonard streets, at the
annual banquet of the Alumni Association of the school, which was held in
the Hanover Club, Bedford avenue and Rodney street. As the former principal
entered the banquet hall he was greeted by the school yells he had taught
the boys and girls years ago.

Although eighty-six years old the venerable schoolmaster is still strong and
healthy and takes an active interest in the affairs of the association. He
was obliged to respond to the warm welcome that was given him and made a
simple but impressive address in which he recalled the days of long ago when
most of those present, many of whom are now prominent in professional and
commercial fields, attended his school in knickerbockrs and short skirts.

Of particular pleasure to the association was the announcement that Public
School 18 will soon be able to occupy the new wing of the building which is
rapidly being completed and will replace the old building. It was pointed
out that the Board of Education in appreciation of the faithful work of Mr.
BUSH, has unanimously decided to name it "The Edward BUSH School."
Addresses were made by Henry C. JAHNE, president of the Writers¹ Club;
District Supt. of Schools Henry E. JENKINS, John J. CLANCY, president of the
