JOHN'S HOME HAS ITS COMMENCEMENT HICKSVILLE, June 17. -- Brooklynites joined with prominent Nassau County residents in a big celebration at St. John's Home here yesterday afternoon. It was the commencement exercises of this progressive instituion which has performed so much good for the children of Long Island who have been deprived of the loving care of parents. A class of six were graduated with high honors. Among the distinguished visitors who also took part in the programme were President Arthur S. SOMERS, of the New York City Board of Education, and Joseph F. KEANY, vice-president of the Roman Catholic Orphan Asylum Society of Brooklyn......... Vice-President KEANY and the Rev. Edward J. O'REILLY also gave spirited talks to the boys. The Very Rev. Lawrence FUCHS, pastor of the R.C. Church of St. Ignatius, of Hicksville, presided, assisted by the Rev. Father Peter SCHULTZ, the popular chaplain of the home, and Dr. Fuchs' assistant. St. John's Home is now rounding out its thirtieth year of splendid activity of the orphan boys. It is under the effective directionof the good Sisters of St. Joseph, whose headquarters are at Brentwood-in-the-Pines. The home now has 115 boys. Attached to the home, which is on the Jericho turnpike, is a splendid farm of 154 acres, all of which is under cultivation by the boys.
