 With the award of a four-year scholarship to Vassar College, valued
at $1,000 a year, offered every alternate year by the Brooklyn Women's
Club to the Brooklyn girl standing higest among all high school
graduates, and with nine citations, honors and medals, Marguerite
CLARKE carried off the lion's share of the honors at the commencement
exercises at the Bay Ridge High School held in the school auditorium
last night. Miss Violet BROWN, with five citations, was runner-up.

  Miss CLARKE, daughter of a teacher of English in Manual Training
High School, stood higest among the 159 graduates, who were 
addressed by Dr.Margaret E.LACEY, principal of P.S.114 and acting
member of the Board of Examiners, and who received their diplomas,
clad in maroon gowns, from the hands of their principal, Miss Kate E.
TURNER.

  In addition to the scholarship worth $4,000 for four years,Miss CLARKE
was president of her class, leader of the Arista, and won the gold medal
for the highest average for four years work, her mark being 95 per cent, 
in all her subjects.She won a diploma for co-operation in goverment
and honors in English, history,Latin, economics,physics, mathematics
and health education.

  Miss BROWN won the Proper gold medal for excellence in history,
a bronze medal for three year's excellence in Latin and honors in 
history,English,Latin and economics.

  The honor graduates, whose marks averaged 85 per cent,or over were;
