The Mayor sent to the Board the name of 
W. Mayo LITTLE for Registrar of Arrears, in place of D.D. WHITNEY; 
James RYAN for Fire Commissioner, in place of Hugh MCLAUGHLIN, 
A.S. ROWLEY, in place of Thomas W. ADAMS, for Commissioner of the Board of City Works, 
the name of George C. BENNETT being withdrawn.  

These nominations, on motion of Alderman STERLING, were laid on the 
table by a strict party vote of yeas 12; nays 11.
