A COLORED MILITARY TURNOUT
The Veteran Guard Battalion of the State (colored) assembled this afternoon 
on Henry Street for the purpose of proceeding to the Capitol to witness a 
base ball match between the Quicksteps, of the Eastern District, and the Lone 
Star Club, of Jamaica, both colored organizations.  The Veteran Guard were in 
uniform, and after having formed along Henry, near Clark Street, marched up 
Fulton to Court and Schermerhorn Streets, to Lafayette, Clinton, Gates, 
Bedford and Putnam Avenues to the ground.  At the conclusion of the base ball 
match the guard will have dress parade, and this evening there will be a 
concert by the battalion band.
