               14th's Deeds Praised

The war veterans of the Fourteenth Regiment, their wives & daughters 
celebrated last night the thirty-fifth anniversary of the regiment's 
departure for the seat of war in 1861, the men with a camp fire at the 
Pierrepont Assembly Rooms, the women with a dinner in the veterans rooms at 
the Eighth Ave. Armory. After the camp fire, the men joined the women at the 
armory.

The veterans, despite the fact that time is thinning their ranks every year, 
were out in goodly numbers last night. At the head table, on the right of 
Vice President Ramon Cardona, who presided was General T.B. GATES. On his 
left was Thomas G. SHEARMAN and directly opposite was ex-District Attorney 
RIDGWAY. The other officers at the table were members of the active regiment, 
who were guest of the vets.
