Private George H. Edwards was 31 years old. 
.  He was the son of a widowed mother.He enlisted in June a year ago
in the Second Field Artillery, and was transferred to the 105th Field
Artillery, Battery C.  He lived with his widowed mother, Ellen G. at 608
Bainbridge street.  The War Department reports him killed in action Sept.
26.  He was born in Manhattan, but was educated in Brooklyn, attending P.S.
44 and Commercial High School. Previous to joining the colors he was engaged
in the insurance business.  He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church of
Our Lady of Lourdes.

Private Carlton ELLIS, killed in action on July 31, 
was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William ELLIS, of 1178 Forty-second Street.  
He was 21 years old and a graduate of Public School 164 and 
New Utrecht High School.  He enlisted in May, 1917, in the 
Seventh Regiment, New York National Guard and was one of 
those picked to fill up the old Sixty-ninth Infantry, now the 165th.

Corporal Frank H. ELLIS, 26 years old, of the 105th Machine Gun Battalion,
died of pneumonia on Nov. 9, according to word received by his mother, Mrs.
Bessie R. ELLIS, of 382 Greene avenue.  He was a member originally of
Squadron A and trained at Spartanburg.  He was born in Baltimore, Mr.
He had been employed by a Wall street firm.

McElrath, Richard
Company C, 
Private Richard McELRATH, who was listed Tuesday among those killed
in action, died of wounds Sept. 24.  He enlisted in July 1917 with Company C,
Forty-seventh Regiment, and at Spartansburg was transferred to France with
Company C, 106th Regiment, the old Twenty-third.  He went overseas last May.

Private Robert Stowe Emery, 22 years old, son of the late J.J. Emery and
Mrs.. Edward Wright, of 1536 Van Wyck avenue, Dunton, was killed in action
in France Sept. 4 according to a War Department telegram received by his
mother.  Private Emery wrote to his mother only three days before he was
killed, and at the time he was on the banks of the Marne. He stated that he
was sitting in a dugout using his helmet as a desk, while shells were flying
all around him.  His letter was cheerful and in it the writer expressed the
opinion that he would be home by Christmas.  Private Emery was a member of
Machine Gun Company D, 306th Infantry.  He was drafted in September 1917 and
went overseas April 5.  Two days before he sailed he married a young woman
from New Hyde Park at Camp Upton.  His mother was unable to give the young
woman's maiden name.
