May, 1917. He was enrolled in the First Engineers
Regiment. His home previously had been Yonkers.
In a recent letter to his mother, Mrs Rosina
NAPOLIELLO, Wilbur pl, Yonkers. he told her he
had been promoted to a sergeantry, and just a few days before
news of the sinking of the President Lincoln, the War Dept.
notified the parent that her son had been recommended for a
commission as a first lieutenant. "Bravery and Conduct under Fire"
were the citations under which the recommendation were made.
NAPOLIELLO was 28 years old and a former student at
New York University. Former employee of the
Brooklyn Rapid Transit.

Private Philip Nasta, who died of wounds on Sept. 9, was born in Italy and
came to this country when he was 8 years old with his parents, Mr. & Mrs.
August Nasta, who are in the grocery business at 275 Central Avenue. he
attended Public School 75, joined the army on Sept. 21, 1917, and went to
France with Headquarters Company, 306th Infantry. The last letter received
from him was dated Sept. 4, when he said he had just come from the front
trenches. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters.

Noce, Joseph,
The parents of Private Joseph NOCE, 181 Frost street, are doubtful about his
death. A telegram received from the War Department stated that he died
from pneumonia Oct. 30. Under date of Oct. 31, the young man writes home
that he is enjoying good health, but is doing some stiff fighting. NOCE is
the son of Joseph and Margaret. He is twenty-five years old. He went to
France with Company F, 312th Engineers.
