Funeral services, 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at his late residence, 
390A 9thst., Brooklyn.  Burial in Evergeens Cemetery, at Marion, Mass.
John A. TANDY, a member of the U. S. N. R. , died on Thursday at the Naval
Base Hospital, Pelham Bay, of pneumonia.  He was born in Brooklyn
twenty-three years ago and was a graduate of P. S. 4, Manual Training High
School, and had just finished his second year in Polytechnic Institute when
he entered the navy.  He was a member of several college fraternities and of
the Park Congregational Church.  He is survived by his parents, John and
Gertrude TANDY; a brother, Corporal Burton Starr TANDY, now in France with
the Artillery Field Supply Company, and a sister, Gertrude A., a yeomanette
at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.  Funeral services will be held this evening at 8
o'clock at his late home, 390a Ninth street, with interment at Marion, Mass.

Lieutenant Gerald Provost Thomas,who lived with his parents Mr & Mrs R.C.
Thomas of 259 Broadway, flushing, was killed in the aerial battle in France,
according to a letter writtenby a chum. Lieutenant John Donohue, of
Baltimore, to his parents. the two lieutenants were members of the
Seventeenth Aero Squadron. On Aug 28, Donohue's  letter says, six aviators
of the squadron were attacked by twenty German Fokker machines over the
enemy lines.  Lieut Thomas was surrounded by six Hun aviators and his machine was
hurled to destruction.  As no word had been received from him he was
believed to have been killed, though his name has not appeared on the
official casualty list.
     Young Thomas was twenty-one years of age, and a member of 19119 class,
Princeton University.  His father, was formerly a member of the Queens Board
of Education.

Corporal Joseph F. THOMPSON, a member of the U. S. Army for five years,
died on Oct. 8 at Fort Beauregard, La., of pneumonia.  He was born in
Brooklyn twenty-eight years ago, and was with the American Army on the
Mexican border.  He was a member of St. Michael's R. C. Church and before
enlisting was connected with the B. R. T.  He is survived by his mother,
Mary; two brothers, Thomas and John and a sister, Mrs. .....(too dark to
read).....Funeral will be held tomorrow at ? a.m. from the home of his
mother, 224 Twelfth street; thence to the church of the Holy Family, where
requiem mass will be celebrated.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under
direction of John H. CARROLL, of 4314 Fourth avenue.

Corporal Gustave THOMSEN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark THOMSEN, of 313 
Glenview(?) avenue, was killed in action in France in the early part of 
November. The news came as a shock to the many friends of Corporal THOMSEN, who
was popularly known as Lester.  He was a member of Company D, 316th
Infantry, and prior to his enlisting into the Army, on May 29 last, was 
serving
with the War Supply Department at Washington.  We went overseas July 7.
He took part in several important battles and the last letter received by his
parents told of the dangers attending night patrol duty.  Corporal THOMSEN
was born in Brooklyn, Aug. 23, 1894.  He attended Public School 108 at
Linwood street and Arlington avenue and was a graduate of Commercial High
School.  He was a member of the Packard A. C. and was well known as a
baseball player.  The soldier's father, Mark THOMSEN, is a popular actor,
having played with several prominent burlesque companies.  Gilbert THOMSEN,
a brother, is also in the Army.

Tice,Raymond S.
Corporal Raymond S. Tice, listed as having lived at 720 Avenue J, 
is reported wounded, degree undetermined in action, Aug. 31.  
The address given on the casualty report is that of his sweetheart, 
Miss Florence L. Wetzlar. A letter received by her from his chaplain 
says he died of his wounds on Oct. 7. Tice lived in Westfield, N.J. 
and was attached to Company H of the 113th Infantry.

Tieman, Frederick A.
Private Frederick A. TIEMAN, who was killed in action Oct. 8, 
according to a telegram received by his aunt, Mrs. H. C. CLARK, 
with whom he made his home at 355 Eastern Parkway, enlisted 
in the Seventh Regiment shortly after war was declared and 
went to France last April with Company H, 107th Infantry.  
He was 23 years old and a son of Mr. and Mrs. A.TIEMAN of 
East Orange, New Jersey.
