VAN MOPPES, Mortan, a yeoman in the U. S. Navy, died last Friday of
pneumonia at Newport, R. I. He was born in Newark, N. J. twenty years
ago, and had been a student at New York University. Before enlisting,
seven weeks ago, he had been employed by the R. H. Ingersoll Company,
and was a member of the Phi beta Delta fraternity. He is survived by
his parents, Samson S. and Esther, and two sisters, Sadie and Sylvia.
The funeral was held on Tuesday with interment at Washington Cemetery.

Priv. Vento, reported as having died from wounds and who formerly
lived at 242 Troutman Street, was born in Italy 23 years ago but
came to this country at the age of 16 and attended the public
schools in Brooklyn. His father is still living in Italy, but a
brother, Vincent, a sister, Mrs. Josephine Palmintirl, and an aunt
live at 93 Hamburg Avenue.

Victor, Arthur A.,
Sergt. Arthur A. VICTOR, 23 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin VICTOR,
of 622 Schenck avenue, reported killed in action Nov. 4, was a member of
Company A, 316th Infantry. He was drafted in June and went overseas in
August. He had previously served in the regular army being stationed in the
Panama Canal Zone. While in the regular army he received a medal for
sharp shooting. He was a graduate of P.S. 72 and when drafted was employed
as a prison keeper on Hart's Island. A brother, Irving, 18 years old, is
attached to Company G, Quartermaster Corps.
