"The Long Island Star was a weekly paper. 
It was published in Brooklyn between 1809 and the mid 1860s. 
However not too much of it seems to be still in existence. 
The few libraries that have it on microfilm, do not have a complete run. 
These libraries are

Queensborough, 
L.I. Studies Institute at Hofstra
East Hampton Library
Suffolk County Historical Society
It may have been connected to the Brooklyn Evening Star, 
which was a daily paper and these announcements in the L.I. Star 
were taken from that paper. 

The transcriptions are from photocopies of the original newspaper 
which can be found at the Suffolk County Historical Society. 
They just have assorted issues between 1844 - 1857."
