William McGRATH in Trouble
William McGrath, a porter in the employ of the Western Electric Co,
on Trinity Place, was held for trial at the Tombs Court today for
stealing over a $100.00 worth of pliers. He confessed the theft to 
Detecive COSGROVE. He lives at 314 Fremont Ave., Bklyn.

A Mean Thief
George SOMMER, a lad who went on an errand for his mother, Mrs
Dora Sommer, of 45 Leonard St., with a silver dollar in hi right hand.
On the way he was met by Gottlieb HUBER, who forcibly opened the
boys hand, took the dollar and ran away. Huber admitted his guilt to
Justice Petterson to-day and he was held for sentence.

No Jerusalem for Her
Mrs. Sarah LEPINA and her two children, from the City of Jerusalem
who were by the Board of Charities sent to the Almshouse pending
arrangements to return them to the Holy Land, have disappeared. 
When  Mrs. Lepina learned what was being done, she took her 
children and left.

Jewelry and Money Stolen
A thief got into Edward BARLOW'S residence at 192 Livingston 
Street, last night, and stole $112.00 worth of jewelry and a purse 
containing $2.00 from a desk. He was supposed to have gotten 
in through an extension window.

Gertrudes Silk Dress Ruined
While Gertrude SCHERMERHORN, of 75 Lawrence Street was 
walking with her mother at Willoughby and Jay Streets Monday night, 
a stylishly dressed young man who carried a cane, poured a bottle of
 ink on her silk dress and spoiled it. The young man is not known.

Obstinate Truckmen
Frank D. FEELEY and William H. BAILEY, two of the
truckmen who were recently ordered to leave their long occupied stand 
in City Hall Square, returned to the place yesterday and were arrested. 
Justice Walsh postponed their trials.

An Italian showing the "Queer"
An Italian yesterday sent Raphael MINIS, an 8 year old boy, who lives 
at 64 Union Street, into Charles RYAN'S Saloon at 54 Union Street,
with a counterfiet $5.00 Silver Certificate for small change. 
Ryan had read of similar counterfeits and sent the boy
for theman. The latter however could not be found.

29 December 1888
David G. COONS, a wealthy real estate owner & dealer, living at 
33 Meeker ave, this city, drove through Central Park, New York, 
yesterday and collided with two other conveyances, smashing them 
badly. Policeman SHEEHAN, of the Park force, arrested Coons, but 
the owners of the wrecked conveyances refused to make a charge against him.
Coons was locked up on a charge of intoxication. In the Yorkville 
Court to-day, Justice PATTERSON, fined the prisioner $10..

Early in the morning a fire started in the saloon of Edward KELLY, 
61 Marion street, and caused a damage of $1,000 to the building and stock.
It extended to the wheelwright shop, 59 Marion street, owned by 
William CONRADY and totally destroyed thesame. The residence of 
Mr. Conrady, 55 Marion street, was damaged also.

For having stolen money from their employer, Steven & Canarella, 
dry goods dealers, of  256 Columbia street, Michael LEE, 15 years of age, 
551 Van Brunt street and Joseph COSMICK, of the same age, who resides at 
92 Degraw street, were arrested last night and this morning held to 
answer by Justice MASSEY. They acknowledge having taken the $10.
