Charles RANDEL, of 964 Third avenue, senior member of the firm Charles
RANDEL & Son, 966 Third avenue, died yesterday at his home.  The funeral
will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from his late residence, thence to St.
Michael's R. C. Church, Fourth avenue and Forty-second street, where a
solemn high mass of requiem will be celebrated.  Interment will be in the
family lot at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Born in New York City, Mr. RANDEL became
a resident of South Brooklyn in early childhood.  He became interested in
civic movements for the development and improvement of the section, and
acquired large realty holdings.  One of the oldest of the main thoroughfares
in South Brooklyn, Thirty-ninth street, was opened and laid out at the
insistence of Jonah B. RANDEL, father of deceased.  On Nov. 27 next, he
would have celebrated his fortieth wedding anniversary, having married Miss
Mary McCORMACK in 1878.  She survives him, as do their son and one daughter,
Mrs. Edward C. RYAN and six grandchildren.

William S. BORST, a foreman of electrical construction for the New York
Telephone Company, died on Wednesday of pneumonia at his home, 441
Seventy-sixth street.  He was born in New York City twenty-nine years ago
and is survived by his wife, Lulu, and two children.  The funeral was held
yesterday with a requiem mass at R. C. Church of Our Lady of Angel.

Arthur A. KEEGAN, who died yesterday of pneumonia at his home, 425a Seventh
avenue, was born in Brooklyn twenty-six years ago and was a member of St.
Stanislaus R. C. Church, Fourteenth street and Sixth avenue.  He is survived
by his mother, Mary; three brothers, Edward, Thomas and William, and two
sisters, Mrs. E. McFARLAND and Mrs. J. SOMBLASS.  The funeral will be held
on Monday at 2 p.m. with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of
John H. TIMMS, of 246 Fifth avenue.

Thomas P. WALSH, son of Bridget and the late Patrick WALSH, died on Thursday
at the home of his cousin, Mrs. P. CLARKE, 324a Lexington avenue.  He is
survived by four sisters, Sister Marie ROCH, Mary, Katherine and Della, and
five brothers, Patrick, John, Andrew, James and Richard.  The funeral will
be held on Monday at 10 a.m.; with a requiem mass at St. Ambrose R. C.
Church, DeKalb and Tompkins avenues.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery,
under direction of George P. McHUGH, of 744 Myrtle avenue.

Cecilia RIELLY BRANDT, who died yesterday at her home, 3015 Tilden avenue,
is survived by her husband, Jacob; three sons, Charles, Lewis and Jacob; her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael RIELLY; and two sisters, Mrs. P. BRAUN and
Mrs. H. KAUFMANN.  The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, with requiem
mass in the Church of the Holy Cross.  Interment at St. John's Cemetery
under direction of Francis J. KELLY, of 1615 Nostrand avenue.

Phillip Fidelis Harrington SULLIVAN, chief of the correspondence section of
the Navy Yard and formerly employed in the public works division of the Navy
Yard, died suddenly on Thursday of pneumonia at his home, 49a Pulaski
street.  He was born in Brooklyn twenty-five years ago and had been employed
at the Navy Yard for eleven years. He was the son of the late Eugene and
Hannah HARRINGTON SULLIVAN and is survived by a widow, Susan; two sisters,
Elizabeth and Julia; one brother, Daniel F., and two aunts, Mrs. Mary
DONOVAN and Miss Julia H. HARRINGTON.  The funeral will be held at 9 a.m.
Monday, with requiem mass in the Church of St. Ambrose.  Burial in Holy
Cross Cemetery under direction of J. J. BROHEL, of 757 Dekalb avenue.

Capt. John MAHONEY, 26 years old, died this morning, of pneumonia, at his
residence, 77 Clay street.  He is survived by his widow, Elizabeth, and one
daughter, Irene.  Funeral services will be held Monday morning in the Church
of St. Collumkills, Dupont street and Manhattan avenue.  Interment will be
at Calvary Cemetery, under the direction of Jos. E. McGUGGIN & Sons, 832
Manhattan avenue.

George LOESEL, who died Tuesday of influenza at Wilbur Wright Aviation
Field, Dayton, Ohio, was born in Brooklyn twenty-two years ago and was a
member of the 678 Aero Squadron.  He is survived by his mother, Clementine;
four brothers, Louis, stationed at Camp Mills; Nicholas, John and Charlie,
and a sister, Christina.
    Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from his late home, 242
Kingsland avenue, with a solemn requiem mass at St. Cecilia's R. C. Church
at 9:30 a.m.  Interment at St. John's Cemetery under the direction of Peter
J. STENGER, of 123 Meeker avenue.

August C. DREWES, chief engineer of the Hotel La Touaine, Manhattan, died on
Tuesday of pneumonia at his home, 3015 Fort Hamilton avenue.  He was a
member of Minerva Lodge, No. 792, F. and A. M., and the Twelfth Street
Military Band, in which he played a trombone.  He was born in Brooklyn
twenty-six years ago, and was a member of the Twelfth Street Reformed
Church.  He is survived by his wife, Hjurdis IVERSON; two children, his
mother, Karolina; three brothers, William, of the 152d Depot Brigade Band,
at Camp Upton; Richard B. and Herman C., and a sister, Mrs. Anna MEARNS.
The funeral services were held last evening at his late home with interment
today at Lutheran Cemetery.

Delia KENNEDY, who died on Thursday at her home, 292 Willoughby avenue, was
born in Moysore, County Westmeath, Ireland, thirty years ago and had been a
resident of Brooklyn for seventeen years.  She is survived by her husband,
Peter; two brothers, James and Michael McCORMICK, and six sisters, Mrs. Mary
????,  Mrs. Margaret GUIREY, Mrs. Elizabeth GILL, Mrs. Catherine McDONALD
and Jennie and Annie McCORMICK.  The funeral will be held on Monday at 9:30
a.m., with a requiem mass at St. Patrick's R. C. Church, Kent and Willoughby
avenues.  Interment at Calvary Cemetery under direction of Thomas F. MADDEN,
of 917 Kent avenue.

Margaret WELLS, widow of Joseph WELLS, died on Thursday at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Elmira CLARK, 221 Westminster road.  She had been here on a
visit from Saratoga Springs, where she was taken sick on Sept. 18 while
attending the funeral services of her son, Joseph R. WELLS.  She is survived
by two daughters, Mrs. Elmira CLARK and Mrs. Charles E. LANE, and a son, J.
William WELLS, who for a number of years was superintendent of the hull
works of Brooklyn Navy Yard and who is now auditor of the Finance
Department.  The funeral will be held on Sunday at 2:15 p.m., with interment
at Evergreen Cemetery.

Elisa Carrie McDONALD, who died on Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital, Jamaica,
was born in Canarsie thirty-six years ago and had been a resident of Jamaica
for two years.  She is survived by her husband, Henry; two sisters and a
brother.  The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the home of her
sister, Mrs. Henrietta DANNACHER, 270 Sumpter street, with interment at
Canarsie Cemetery.

Dr. George W. WATERS, a lifelong resident of Brooklyn and formerly a widely
known veterinary surgeon of the Gravesend section, in which he was born,
died suddenly on Wednesday at his home, 732 Fulton street.  The funeral was
held yesterday, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

Frederick C. DIECKMANN, in the grocery and meat business, died yesterday at
his home, 3823 Eighth avenue.  He was born in Brooklyn on Jan. 26, 1877, and
was a member of Anthon Lodge, N769, F. and A. M.  He is survived by his
father, John; a sister, Matilda MARTIN, and a brother, John.  The funeral
will be held tomorrow with interment at Lutheran Cemetery.

Barthelmew BENNERLEIN, who died yesterday at his home, 164 Stanhope street,
was born in New York City sixty-five years ago, and had been a  resident of
Brooklyn for a number of years.  He was a member of Franklin Council, No 16,
Jrs., O. U. A. M., and is survived by his widow, Pauline; four sons, John,
August, Edward and William, and two daughters, Mrs. Anna BECK and Pauline
BENNERLEIN.  The funeral will be held on Monday at 2 p.m., with  interment
at Lutheran Cemetery, under direction of BOLDEMANN & BIERMAN?, of 225
Hamburg avenue.

William CAUNITZ, born in the United States fifty-three years ago, died
yesterday at his home, 1062 New York avenue, suddenly.  He is survived by
his widow, Mary, and two daughters, and seven sons.  The funeral will be
held on Monday at 3 p.m.

William A. WHALEN, who died on Thursday at his home, 288½ Wykoff street was
born in Philadelphia, Pa., sixteen years ago and had been a resident of
Brooklyn for fifteen years.  He is survived by his parents, John and Annie
WHALEN; a brother, John and a sister, Anna.  He was a member of the Church
of Our Lady of Mercy and the Sons and Daughters of Wisdom.  The funeral will
be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. with interment in the family plot at Holy Cross
Cemetery, under direction of Albert V. O'CONNELL, of 293 Smith street.

Henry G. WAITE, who died yesterday at his home, 667 Carroll street, was born
in Brooklyn, Nov. 21, 1890, and is survived by his widow, Lauretta; two
brothers, Wilbert and Irving, and a sister, Edith.

Mae McMULLEN, for many years active in the work of the Women's Christian
Temperance Union, died last Wednesday at her home, 246 East Eighth street.
She was born in New York City, and was formerly a teacher in the Sunday
school of St. Mark's Church and a member of its Ladies' Aid and Missionary
Societies.  She was a member of the managing boards of the Methodist
Episcopal Home for the Aged, the Wayside Home at Valley Stream, the
Methodist Deaconesses' Home, the Priscilla Club, the Flatbush Garden League,
the Brooklyn Sabath Alliance and the Red Cross Society.  She is survived by
her husband, Harry, and a brother, John R. ROSE, of Saratoga, N. Y.

Mary BULLOCK, born in Brooklyn twenty years ago, died last Thursday at her
home, 61 Fifteenth street, after a short illness.  She is survived by her
husband, Norman, and two daughters, Julia and Rita.  The funeral will be
held tomorrow at 10 a.m., with interment at Evergreen Cemetery under the
direction of R. F. TIMMS, of 560 Warren street.

Private George V. BAKER, of 143 Sullivan street, died at Camp Gordon,
Georgia, on Oct. 3 of pneumonia.  Private BAKER entered the service on Aug.
26.  Previous to being called, he was associated with his father at BAKER's
Boat House at the Long Dock.  He was a graduate of Public School 30 and
attended the Church of the Visitation, where requiem mass was celebrated on
Wednesday morning.  Private BAKER was 22 years old and popular in the
vicinity where he lived.  He is survived by his parents, five sisters, Mrs.
Joseph KENNEY, whose husband is in France with the 165th Infantry; Gertrude,
Katherine, Frances and Florence, and three brothers, David, Thomas, who is
at Camp Upton, and William, in the Navy.

Edward J. COLLINS, who died yesterday of pneumonia at his home 9 Walcott
avenue, Seaside, Rockaway Beach, was born in Seaside twenty-nine years ago,
and was a pipe fitter by trade.  He is survived by his widow, Blanche; a
daughter, Helen, four sisters, Mrs. GACQUIN, Mrs. SMITH, Mrs. DONNELLY and
Julia COLLINS, and two brothers, Lawrence and Martin.  He was a member of
St. Camillus Church, Rockaway Beach.  The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2
p.m., with interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, under direction of Thomas H.
IRELAND, of Grove street, Cedarhurst.

Mabel BIEHL, who came to Brooklyn two months ago from Pottsville, Pa., died
on Wednesday of pneumonia at her home, 1396 Flatbush avenue.  She was born
in Shenandoah, Pa., twenty-seven years ago, and is survived by her husband,
Gordon; her parents, Frank and Elizabeth REESE, and two brothers, Capt.
Francis REESE, of the 103d U. S. Engineers in France, and Frank REESE.

Lawrence KANE, born in Brooklyn, died yesterday at his home, 287 Taaffe
place.  He was the son of Margaret and the late Thomas KANE.  He was a
painter and attended St. Patrick's R. C. Church.  He is survived by six
brothers, James, Thomas, Joseph, Gilbert, William and Robert.  The funeral
will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. with requiem mass at St. Patrick's
Church, Kent and Willoughby avenues.  Interment at St. John's Cemetery under
direction of John W. MARTIN.

Loretta RAIL CAMERON, born in the Twelfth Ward, Brooklyn, the daughter of
Patrick and Alice RAIL, and a member of the Visitation R. C. Church, died
yesterday at her home, 63 Lorraine street.  She is survived by her husband,
Angus; a son, John; her parents, three sisters, and two brothers.  The
funeral will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Dr. Walter William LOWELL, a member of the Kings County Medical Society, the
New York State Medical Society and the Associated Physicians of Long Island,
died on Thursday of pneumonia at his home, 419 Enfield street.  He was born
in Long Island City and is survived by his widow and two daughters.

Florence E. SAMMOND, a school teacher in Public School 147, and a member of
the Brooklyn Teachers' Association and St. Matthews' P. E. Church, died on
Wednesday of pneumonia at her home, 823 Willoughby avenue.  She was born in
Brooklyn twenty-seven years ago, and was a graduate of Girls' High School
and the Brooklyn Teachers' Training School.  She is survived by her aunt,
Frances S. SAMMOND; a sister, Mrs. Leslie J. HALLETT, and two brothers, John
and Thomas.  The funeral services were held last evening at her late home,
with interment today at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Myles W. YOUNG, a yeoman in the U. S. Navy, died Tuesday in the Municipal
Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa., of pneumonia.  He was born in Brooklyn
twenty-six years ago, and was formerly attached to the Fire Headquarters as
a clerk.  He was the husband of the late Loretta YOUNG, and is survived by
two children, his father, George W.; two brothers, Frank and George W., and
a sister, Mrs. Ruth CLARKE.  The funeral will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m.
from his late home, 593 Tenth street, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

Ethel C. BURNS, daughter of Thomas and Catherine MURPHY BURNS, died Thursday
at the home of her parents, 186 Oakland street. She was born in Brooklyn
thirteen years ago, and is survived, in addition to her parents, by a
brother, Thomas; and three sisters, Madeline, Evelyn and Kathleen.  The
funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m., with interment at Calvary Cemetery,
under direction of John GLINNEN & Sons, of 64 Herbert street.

Edward Thomas O'ROURKE, son of Henry and Josephine QUINN O'ROURKE, died
Thursday at his home, 371 Van Brunt street.  He is survived by his parents,
and a sister.  The funeral will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m., with interment
at Holy Cross Cemetery, under direction of Mrs. Joseph REDMOND, of 90 King street.

Margaret MORGENTHALER, a real estate operator in Brooklyn, Queens and Long
Island, died on Thursday at her home, 183 Lincoln road, Flatbush, after a
lingering illness.  She was born in Brooklyn and was a graduate of Girls'
High School and was a member of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church on
Schermerlorn street.  She is survived by her mother, Marie MORGENTHALER; two
sisters, Mrs. Henry KOEHLER and Elizabeth, and three brothers, William,
Jacob and Leonard.

William X. CASSIDY, of 347 Sixth avenue, who died suddenly Wednesday, was in
his twenty-second year and was a graduate of P. S. 10 and the Boy's High
School.  He enlisted in the United States Navy, spent several months at
Pelham Bay training station and was assigned to the U. S. S. Granite State.
He was the son of Margaret P. CASSIDY, (nee FEELY) and the late Francis
CASSIDY, and the husband of Catherine GORMAN.  He was a member of St.
Francis Xavier's R. C. Church, where a requiem high mass will be celebrated
for him at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In addition to his mother and wife, he leaves one brother, John, and three
sisters, Elizabeth, Daisie and Josephine.

Mary E. McDONALD, wife of Robert J. McDONALD and daughter of Peter and
Katherine SCULLY, died Thursday after a short illness at her home 594
Lincoln place.  She is survived, besides her husband and parents by a

Lena SCRACCHITANO, died yesterday at her home, 556 Gravesend avenue.  She is
survived by her husband, Onofio; two sons, Dominic and John, and two

p.m., with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of H. LENNART,
of 311 Columbia street.

Bridget FINNEGAN died yesterday at her home, 1026 President street.  She was
born in Ireland thirty-one years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn for
ten years and the United States for twenty-six years.  She was a member of
St. Ignatius R. C. Church and is survived by her husband, Phillip; her
mother, Margaret; her father, Frank; three sisters and seven brothers, of
Fall River, Mass.  The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the
home of her mother, 129 Robertson street, Fall River, Mass., with a requiem
mass at the Church of the Sacred Heart.  Interment at St. Patrick's
Cemetery, Fall River, Mass., under direction of James V. MALONE, of 640
Sterling place.

Alice J. GERRITY, daughter of Mary REDMOND and the late Patrick GERRITY,
died yesterday at her home, 149 Dwight street.  She was born in Brooklyn and
was a member of the Church of the Visitation.  She is survived, in addition
to her mother, by one sister, Mrs. William FARRELL, and a nephew, William
FARRELL.  The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, with a requiem mass in
the Church of the Visitation.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under
direction of Mrs. Joseph REDMOND, of 90 King street.

Marie HABEKOST, a stenographer at the Bush Terminal, died yesterday at her
home, 75 Powers street.  She was born in Brooklyn eighteen years ago, was a
member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and a teacher in the Sunday school.
She is survived by her parents, William and Matilda HABEKOST; two brothers,
William and Charles; and three sisters, Matilda, Carrie and Helen.  The
funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. tomorrow.  Interment at 2 p.m. at
Mount Olivet Cemetery under direction of John T. SHEVLIN Sons, of 529 Grand street.

Anna M. COYLE died yesterday at her home, 773 Fourth avenue.  She is
survived by one son, John, and by her mother, Mrs. Bridget REILLY.  Requiem
high mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist's Church on Monday
at 10 a.m. for the repose of her soul, and interment will take place at Holy
Cross Cemetery.

Robert F. STEAKLUN died suddenly Thursday in Kings County Hospital.  He was
born in Newfoundland, forty-six years ago, and had been a resident of
Brooklyn for forty years.  He was a member of St. Francis Xavier's R. C.
Church.  The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. from his late home, 607
Carroll street, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of J.
J. CRONIN, of 115 Atlantic avenue.

Mary J. ASCHENBACK died Thursday at her home, 1726 Forty-fifth street.  She
was born in New Jersey thirty years ago, had been a resident of Brooklyn for
a number of years and is survived by her husband, Augustus; three daughters,
Catherine, Margaret and Dorothy; and two sons, Joseph and George.  The
funeral will be held on Monday at 10 a.m., with a requiem mass at St. Rose
of Lima R. C. Church.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of
Peter L. MAWN, of 956 Gravesend avenue.

Margaret KROEGAHR, wife of Rudolph KROEGAHR, died yesterday in her
fifty-second year at her home, 891 Grand street.  She is survived by her
husband, three daughters, Mrs. Charles PHILLIPS, Mrs. Lawrence BAMBERGER and
Mrs. Ada COYLE; one brother, Peter BERGER, and one sister, Mrs. Lena
GIEBLER.  The funeral will be held Monday, the Rev. W. WALENTA officiating.
Interment at St. John's Cemetery.

A requiem mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Paul's R. C.
Church, Court and Congress streets, for Mary TONRY, who died yesterday at
her home, 176 Amity street.  She was born in Brooklyn seventeen years ago
and is survived by her parents, Eugene and Mary TONRY; three brothers,
Eugene, Jr., John and James, and three sisters, Alice, Eleanor and Anne.
Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of John J. CLEARY,
of 330 Court street.

Ethel Elizabeth LUTHER, died from pneumonia yesterday at her home, 8409
Fulton street, Woodhaven.  She was born in Brooklyn twenty-one years ago and
was employed as a stenographer with the American Association of Foreign
Language Newspaper, in the Woolworth Building, Manhattan.  She was the only
child of George William and Elizabeth LUTHER.  Funeral services will be
conducted at her home tomorrow at 1 p.m. by the Rev. John WILLIAMS, pastor
of Calvary Episcopal Church.  Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Hugh E. RICHARDS, of 29 Classon avenue, died of pneumonia, last night, after
an illness of seven days.  Mr. RICHARDS was twenty-six years old, was born
in Boston, and had lived in Brooklyn nearly all his life.  He was a
first-class electrician in the United States Navy, stationed at Freeport,
and was taken sick while home on furlough.  Funeral services will be held
tomorrow with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Edward DEMENT, son of William and Jennie MAXWELL DEMENT, died Thursday at
his home, 99 Pioneer street.  He is survived in addition to his parents by a
brother, William.  The funeral will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m., with
interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, under direction of Mrs. Joseph REDMOND, of
30 King street.

Mary NOONAN, born in Ireland thirty-one years ago, a resident of Brooklyn
for seven years, and a member of the Church of the Visitation, died
yesterday in the Holy Family Hospital of influenza.  She is survived by her
husband, James; a son, John, and a daughter, Kathleen.  The funeral will be
held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from her late home, 208 Richards street, with
interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, under direction of Mrs. Joseph REDMOND, of
90 Kings street.

Ann FLANAGAN died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alex McNAMARA,
310 Ninety-third street.  She is survived by three sons, John, Robert and
Thomas.  She was a member of the Fund Association and the Altar Society of
St. Patrick's.  The funeral will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m., with a
requiem mass at St. Patrick's R. C. Church, Fort Hamilton.  Interment at
Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of John J. DARRAUGH, of 8315 Fifth avenue.

Herbert R. McGRATH, 18 years old, grandson of the late Henry MELIN, died
yesterday at his home in Jerome avenue, near the Sheepshead Bay race track.
He is survived by his father, Dennis, a well-known turfman associated with
the Dwyers; his mother, Mary MELIA (transcriber's note: different spellings
in paper)  The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. with a requiem mass
at St. Mark's R. C. Church.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under
direction of William FENTON, of 1844 Coney Island avenue.

Daniel H. McDONALD, born in Brooklyn thirty-four years ago, died yesterday
at his home, 31 Kingsland avenue.  He is survived by his widow, Mary, two
brothers and two sisters.  The funeral will be held on Monday at 10 a.m.,
with interment at St. John's Cemetery.

Martin EGAN, who was in charge of the Brooklyn headquarters of the Standard
News Association at night, died yesterday of pneumonia, in St. Peter's
Hospital.  He was twenty-seven years old, and is survived by two sisters and an aunt.

FRANK P. WISEBURN FATALLY STRICKEN
Prominent in Masonic Circles and Building and Loan Association Head
    Frank P. WISEBURN was fatally stricken with apoplexy yesterday at his
home, 803 Putnam avenue.  He was born in New York in 1853 and had lived in
Brooklyn forty years.  He is survived by a widow, one sister, Margaret, and
three sons, Arthur, George and Frank.  The funeral service will take place
tomorrow at 2 p.m., and interment will be in the Fairmont Cemetery, Newark,
N. J.    Mr. WISEBURN was  prominent in business and Masonic circles.  He was

KILLED IN ACTION
Private John J. DUNN, reported killed in action, was the son of Mrs.
Margaret DUNN, a widow of 1154 Atlantic avenue.  He enlisted in the First
Cavalry at the start of the war.  He was transferred to Battery D., 106th
Machine Battalion.
The War Department reports him killed in action on Sept. 2.
A letter from him to his mother written on Aug. 18, said he was in the
front lines having lots of fun shooting Germans.  We expect to have them
cleaned up soon and will be home for Christmas, he wrote.  A brother,
William, is a member of Battery C, 306th Field Artillery.  The members of
his family are members of the Nativity R. C. Church, Classon avenue and
Madison street.

Private John LEDER, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James LEDER, of 232 Throop
avenue, was killed in action of Sept. 2 .  Three days after President Wilson
declared was he enlisted in the Forty-seventh Infantry of Brooklyn.  At Camp
Wadsworth, he was transferred to Company I, 106th infantry.  In a letter to
his parents written on Aug. 24, he wrote his company was in the trenches
showing the Germans how Americans can fight.  
He was born in Manhattan and attended school at Spring Valley.  
Previous to enlisting, he was engaged in the bakery business with his 
father.  A brother, Carl, is awaiting his call to the colors.

Although she has received no official word of the death of her son, Mrs.
Henry CUNDY , of 578 Lexington avenue, mother of Private Harry M. CUNDY, is
satisfied of his death in action, as she received a letter from his pal and
Corporal George HOLMES, stating that we was killed during an engagement on
Aug. 11.    Private CUNDY was a member of the Twenty-third of Brooklyn for several
years and saw service on the border with that outfit.  At. Camp Wadsworth he
was transferred to the 106th Infantry, Company K.  During his stay at the
camp, he took part in the musical revue, You Know Me, Al.
He was born in Plainfield, N. J., attended the Brooklyn schools and
graduated from P.S. 44.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Before enlisting he was in the automobile business.  A brother, Thomas H.,
is ready to answer the next call to the colors.

Private James H. SEAGRIFF, 29 years old, reported killed in action, Sept. 2,
was the son of Joseph and Mary SEAGRIFF, of 524 Court street.  SEAGRIFF, was
born in Brooklyn, was drafted Sept. 27, 1917, and on April 6 last, sailed to
France.  He was attached to Company A, 307th Infantry.  He attended St.
Mary's Catholic School at Court and Nelson streets.  Private SEAGRIFF has a
brother Joseph, who is doing overseas duty with the 165th Infantry.

Private Francis E. WOOD, 30 years old, reported killed in action Sept. 2,
was with Company a. 207th Infantry.  On Feb. 27, 1918, he was drafted, and
sailed for France on April 6.  Prior to being drafted, he was a pressman for
the Evening World, and lived with his wife, May, and child, Eugenia, at
191 Baltic street.  Recently, Mrs. WOOD removed to 194 Warren street.

Private John J. SARTORY, 24 of 145 Thames street, is reported killed in
action on September 20.  He was drafted last May into Company H of the 305th
Infantry, and went to France in July.  A brother, Charles, is attached to
the Veterinary Corps of the 308th Infantry, now also over there.

Private Alfred H. OHLSON, 22 years old, reported killed in action on the 4th
or 5th of September, was attached to the Sanitary Detachment of the 307th
Infantry.  OHLSON was drafted Sept. 10, 1917, and sailed for France April 6,
1918.  He lived with his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Alfred OHLSON, at 680 Bergen
street.  He is survived by a brother, Kenneth, and a sister, Irene.  OHLSON
was a member of the Swedish Methodist Church on Dean street, and  before
being drafted was a compositor for the Williams Company of Manhattan.

Private Christopher T. WALSH, 27, of 734 Leonard street, is reported killed
in action of Sept. 9.  WALSH was drafted last September and went to Camp
Upton, where he was attached to the Sanitation Corps of the 307th Infantry.
He went to France in April.  A brother, James H., is serving in France with
Company F, of the 216th Ammunition Train.

Private Alfred ANDERSON, 23, of 225 Fifty-fourth street, who was killed in
action on September 7,was the son of Mrs. J. A. ANDERSON, and belonged to
Company D. 306th Infantry.  He was drafted in December and went to France in
April.  He was a graduate of P. S. 60

Private Patrick M. KYNE, of 8505 Seventeenth avenue, is reported on today's
causality list as killed in action.  At his home address members of Private
KYNE's family admitted they had been notified that he was killed, but
declined to give any information regarding him or discuss the report.

Sergeant Reuben M. PETERSON, of 269 Madison avenue, Flushing, of the Machine
Gun Company of the 306th Infantry, killed in action on Aug. 2, was 28 years
old.  He was drafted in 1917 and sailed for France on April 6.  He was a
graduate of Flushing High School and attended Princeton University.  In
January, he was married to Miss Elsa KIRPAL, daughter of Mrs. F. J. KIRPAL,
of 140 Barclay street, Flushing.  His father died last month.

member of Hyatt Lodge, F. and A. M. and was well known in Brooklyn
musical circles, being leader of five bands, the First Regiment, U. B.
B. A., of the First Baptist Church; the Twelfth Street Reformed Church
Military Band, of Hudson Terminal Station, Manhattan; Our Lady of
Lourdes Boys' Band, and St. Michael's P. E. Boys' Band.  He is survived,
besides his parents, by his widow, Caroline Lelk; a daughter, Dorothy
C., and a brother, Elmer V., who is bandmaster of the band of the U. S.
S. Alabama.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at
his late home.  Interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mary HUTTMAN, who died last Friday at her home, 452 Grant avenue, of
influenza, was born in Brooklyn twenty-six years ago and was a member of
Blessed Sacrament Church.  She is survived by her husband, Milton, who
is chief electrician on the U. S. S. New Mexico; her parents, David and
Ellen Evans, and two sisters, Mrs. FOLEY and Agnes EVANS.  The funeral
will be held from her late home tomorrow at 2:30 p.m., with interment at
Calvary Cemetery under direction of Thomas L. KEARNEY, of Bushwick and
Furman avenues.

Hugh F. CLIFFORD, died yesterday at his home, 309 Lexington avenue.  He
was born in Brooklyn thirty-eight years ago, and had lived in the same
district all his life.  He was formerly employed in the Street Cleaning
Department and is survived by a brother, John and two sisters, Agnes and
Mrs. Loretta DWYER.  The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Interment at Calvary Cemetery under direction of William P. Murphy, 87
Herbert street.

Private Francis Joseph McCONVILLE, 25 years old, died of pneumonia
Saturday at Camp Morrison, Virginia, where he was attached to the
Nineteenth Balloon Company.  He is survived by his father, Michael J.
McCONVILLE, Sr., who lives in Ireland; two brothers, Peter P. and
Michael, Jr.  The latter is now in France with the Thirtieth Engineers.
Also a sister, Catherine S. McCONVILLE.  The body is now on its way from
Virginia

Corporal James McTIGUE, who died on Oct. 7 in the base hospital of Camp
Lee, Va., was born in Jersey City twenty-five years ago and had been a
resident of the East New York section for fifteen years.  He was a
graduate of P. S. 73 and had attended Commercial High School, enlisting
three years ago.  He was sent to the Panama Canal, where he was
stationed
until last August, when he went to the Officer's Training School at Camp
Lee.  He is survived by his parents, Patrick and Delia McTIGUE; two
sisters, Irene and Mrs. Albert PFAEFFLE, and four brothers, Robert,

Mrs. Wallburga FRUEHWIRTH, for more than half a century active in the
affairs of the Roman Catholic Church of St. Nicholas at Olive and Devoe
streets, and who was one of the founders and earliest members of the St.
Anne's Society of that church, died yesterday in her seventy-seventh
year at her home, 263 Devoe street.  She was born in Germany and
fifty-five years ago came to America and settled in the section where
she died.  Her husband, who was a well known business man, died many
years ago.  She is survived by six sons, George, John, Phillip, Joseph,
Martin and Eugene, as well as one daughter, Mrs. Mary PEIFFER.  The
funeral will be held Thursday morning from the St. Nicholas church,
where there will be a requiem mass.  Interment at St. John's Cemetery.

John MEYER died on Saturday at his home, 179 Ten Eyck street.  He was a
retired baker.  He was born in Germany seventy-nine years ago and had
lived in Brooklyn fifty-five years.  He was a member of the Brooklyn
Boss Bakers and Williamsburg Boss Bakers' Singing Society.  He is
survived by his widow, Elizabeth; two sons, John, Jr., and Albert; four
daughters, Julia and Anna MEYER, Minnie OBERGFERR and Elizabeth KERPEN.
Funeral services will be held at his late home tomorrow at 2 p.m., the

Ellen McCAFFREY died suddenly at her residence, 213 Calyer street, on
Saturday.  She was born in Mallow, County Cork, Ireland, fifty-five
years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn thirty-five years.  She is
survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edward DROHAN and Mrs. Anna McCUE, of
Newark, N. J.; three sons, John, James and Private William McCAFFREY, of
the 312th Infantry stationed at Camp Dix, N. J., and two brothers,
William and Edward McDONNELL; five nieces, Lillian and Anna COLEMAN,
Mrs. Agnes CROFTON and Lizzie and Delia McDONNELL, and six nephews,
William and Raymond COLEMAN, Thomas, James, Edward and William
McDONNELL;  five grandchildren.  Funeral from her late residence

Marie ERASSER, 64 years old, died Saturday at her home, 82 Harman
street.  She was born in Germany and had lived in this country for

Othelius H. WOLDSTAD, born in Norway, thirty-six years ago and a
resident of Brooklyn for sixteen years, died on Saturday after a short

Rose HIGGINS, widow of Matthew HIGGINS, who at the time of his death was

by a son, Francis J.; a daughter, Elizabeth P. HIGGINS, and two

Helen Isabelle DICKNEIDER, daughter of Helen and George DICKNEIDER, died
on Saturday, after a long illness, at her home, 774 McDonough street.
She was born in Brooklyn fourteen years ago and had been a pupil at
Public School 137.  She is survived, in addition to her parents, by
three brothers, Robert, William and George.  Funeral services will be
held this evening at 8 o'clock at her late home.  Interment tomorrow at
Evergreen Cemetery.

James W. RUTLEDGE, who died yesterday at his home, 292 ½ Thirteenth
street, was born in Beaufort, S. C., seventy-eight years ago and had
been a resident of Brooklyn for ten years.  He was an employee of the First
National Bank, in Manhattan, having retired a few years ago.  He was the
oldest living member of the New York African Society of Mutual Relief
and was chairman of the board of trustees of that society for
twenty-five years.  He is survived by his son, J. Royal.  Funeral
services will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., at his late home, with
interment on Thursday in the family plot at Cypress Hills Cemetery.

May ROACH, 19 years old, of 1219 Halsey street, died last Friday in
Wyckoff Heights Hospital of pneumonia.  She was born in Brooklyn and is
survived by her mother and sister.  The funeral will be held tomorrow
with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under direction of Louis H. HATCH,
of 1701 Putnam avenue.

Frances W. GLITHERS, of 92 New Jersey avenue, died last Friday in the
Bushwick Hospital of pneumonia.  He was born in London on March 18,
1886, and had lived in Brooklyn twenty-eight years.  He was a member of
Puritan Chapel, branch of the Tompkins Avenue Congregational Church.
Services were held yesterday with interment today at Evergreen Cemetery
under direction of the Louis H. HATCH Burial Company.  He is survived by
his widow and mother.

William S. FORD, seventy-one years old, died Saturday at Canarsie, where
he was born and lived all his life.  The funeral will be held tomorrow

Cemetery.  He was a member of the Canarsie Gun Club and of Long Island

John Henry HERRMANN, who died on Saturday at Pelham Bay, was born in
Brooklyn on May 25, 1892, and was a member of the Ninth Regiment,
Thirteenth Company, U. S. Navy.  He enlisted Aug. 1 and is survived by
three brothers, Charles, George and August; two sisters, Katie and
Frances, and his mother, Katie S.  Funeral services will be held this

John Henry DRAPER died Saturday at his home, Clinton avenue, near Fisk

home, 312 Graham avenue, last Friday, was born in this country on August
23, 1812, and had been a resident of Brooklyn for forty-seven years.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary FIELDS and Catherine BERGER, and
three sons, Morton, William and George.  Funeral services will be
conducted tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Mr. BEYER of St. John's
Lutheran Church.  Interment at Lutheran Cemetery.

Ellen E. BELL, who was born in England on Oct. 3, 1845, died on Saturday
at her home, 1262 Flatbush avenue, of pneumonia.  Services will be held
tonight at 8 o'clock, with interment tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Evergreen
Cemetery under direction of C. F. MOADINGER.

Margaret LA BARBERA, 34 years old, died Saturday at 532 Ninth street,
from influenza.  She is survived by her husband, Frank; six children,
her mother, Mary C. HENDRY; and a brother.  The funeral will be held
tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock.  Services by the Rev. James J. FLOOD, of
St. Saviors Church.  Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of Henry McCADDIN.

Carrie BINNINGER, 50 years old, who died at 581 Onderdonk avenue, was
buried today at Linden Hill Cemetery, following cancer, conducted by the
Rev. Mr. WALENTA.  The funeral was in charge of Charles MORTON, of 577
Onderdonk avenue.  Surviving relatives are the husband, Charles; two
daughters, Magdalena and Tillie; four sons, Charles, Jr., William, Frank
and Martin; his parents, and four sisters.

Owen CONLIN died yesterday at his home, 321 Seventh street, aged 70
years.  He was born in Ireland and had been a resident of Brooklyn for
fifty years.  He was a retired city employee and a member of St. Thomas
Aquinas Church, Fourth avenue and Ninth street.  He is survived by his
widow Margaret; three sons, Eugene, Patrick and Henry, and one daughter,
Elizabeth.  Requiem mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of J. Eugene NEWMAN, of
255 Ninth street.

Catherinus J. HASSLEMAN,  33 years old, who died yesterday at his home,
1560 East Twenty-second street, from asthma, had been a resident of
Brooklyn twenty years.  He was born in Michigan and was a member the
Unitarian church.  Mr. HASSELMAN was a salesman for the Loraine
manufacturing Company.  He belonged to the Twenty-third Regiment; N. Y.
G.  He is survived by his widow, Frances; two daughters, his parents and
two brothers.  Funeral tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. with interment at Greenwood
Cemetery in charge of the  United Burial Company.

Peter SEVERINSON, a resident of Brooklyn all his life, died last Friday
at the Navel Training Station, Great Lakes, Ill., from influenza.  He
was a member of St. Jude's Church, Borough Park, and is survived by a
widow, Laura; two children, Laura and Grace; his parents, Mrs. and Mrs.
Neils SEVERINSON, and three sisters.  Funeral services will be held at
his late home, 1334 Seventieth street, at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow.
Interment at Evergreen Cemetery under direction of Stephen MURPHY, of
Fifteen avenue and Seventy-fourth street.

Herminia ROBERTSON, wife of William M. ROBERTSON, died last Friday.  She
was born in New York City thirty-nine years ago and had been a resident
of Brooklyn for thirty years.  In addition to her husband she is
survived by her parents, four daughters and four sons.  The funeral was
held from her late home, 168 Ten Eyck street, this afternoon with
interment at Evergreen Cemetery under direction of J. J. LENNON, of 100
Leonard street.

The funeral of William LUTHER, who died last Friday in Kings County
Hospital of tuberculosis, was held this afternoon from 503 Atlantic
avenue.  He was born in Manhattan fifty years ago and for more than twen
ty years was a boss carman in that borough.  Interment in the family
plot at Evergreen Cemetery under direction of James E. COWLEY, of 310
Myrtle avenue.

Mary Catherine MARSHALL died yesterday at her home, 46 Butler street.
She was born in Brooklyn thirty-four years ago and is survived by her
husband, Michael MARSHALL; her parents, Richard and Winifred HORKEY; one
sister, Ellen, and three brothers, Richard, William and Leo.  The
funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, with requiem mass in the
Church of St. Paul.  Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of
Bernard F. REILLY of 9 Henry street.

Requiem mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in the Church of
the Nativity for Rose C. DOHERTY, who died Saturday at her home, 130
Jefferson avenue.  She was born in Brooklyn in 1899 and was a graduate
of St. Ann's School and Browne's Business College.  She is survived by
her father, Cornelius DOHERTY; four sisters, Mrs. John McGEE, Ellen,
Frances and Helen, and three brothers, Arthur, Cornelius and Edward.
The remains will be buried in Calvary Cemetery under direction of DOYLE
& KENNY, of 197 Bridge street.

William MURRAY, a retired policeman, formerly of the Amity street
station, died on Friday at his home, ...(this part at bottom page, too

Francis, now of the 165th Infantry, in France.  The funeral will be held
tomorrow at 2:30 p.m., with interment at St. John's Cemetery under

Harry MEYER, a clerk in the U. S. Senate at Washington, D. C., died on
Friday of influenza at his home, 130 Hamburg avenue.  He is survived by
his parents, Ahrend and Helen MEYER; a sister, Anne BOE, and a brother,
Dietrich.  The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m., the Rev. Mr.
LINDER of the Melrose Street Church officiating.  Interment at Lutheran
Cemetery under direction of Fred STEINMAN, of 249 Irving avenue.

Edwin A. SNYDER, chief radio electrician on the flagship Pennsylvania,
U. S. N., died on Oct. 5, aboard the hospital ship Murphy.  he was born
in Manhattan twenty-seven years ago and had been a resident of Brooklyn
for twenty-six years.  Before enlisting in the navy nine years ago, he
was employed by Armstrong Bros. as an electrician.  he is survived by he
father, Oscar, for many years connected with the B. R. T.; a sister,
Mrs. Arthur O'Brien.  The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
from his late home, 402 Ridgewood avenue, with interment at Flushing
Cemetery under direction of J. J. GALLAGHER's Sons, of 25 Aberdeenstreet.

The Rev. H. SILVER, cantor of the Mount Sinai Congregation, 205 State
street, died last night of pneumonia in Gouverneur Hospital,
Manhattan.  He had been cantor of the congregation for the past five
years.  Funeral service will be held in the temple tomorrow afternoon at
2 o'clock.  He is survived by four brothers, all ministers, and five sisters.

William S. HARTIGAN, who died on Saturday at his home, 347 Warren
street, was born in the old Tenth Ward, and was a member of St. Paul's
R. C. Church and the Frank W. Foley Mutual Aid Club.  He is survived by
his widow, Katherine; a son, Thomas; two daughters, May and Katherine
and two sisters, Mrs. F. BLEEKMAN and Helen.  The funeral will be held
on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under
direction of Thomas R. CROWE, of 152 Smith street.

Louis W. MARTIN, who died Saturday at his home, 141 Albany avenue, was
born in Washington forty-seven years ago.  He was employed by the
Mergenthaler Linotype Company as a machinist, and is survived by his
father, William M.; a widow, Annie; two sons, John and Louis; one
daughter, Edith; one sister, Mrs. Kate BROWNE; two brothers, William and
Frederick.  The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow with
interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of D. J. LANGTON &
Sons, of 74 Utica avenue.

Michael McDONALD, who died yesterday, was born in Brooklyn twenty-six
year ago, the son of Catherine and the late Patrick McDONALD.  He is
survived by his mother and a widow, Martha.  He was employed by the B.
R. T. as a conductor and was a member of the B. R. T. Employee's
Association.  Funeral from his late home, 496 Dean street, on Wednesday,
at 2:30 p.m.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of D. J.
LANGTON & Sons, of 74 Utica avenue.

Harry August WISBAUER died Saturday at his home, 354 Graham avenue, of
pneumonia  He is survived by a widow, Margaret, and two children,
Margaret and Harry.  He was a member of Franklin Council, No. 16, O. A.
M., and the Workmen's Sick and Death Benefit Fund.  Funeral services
will be held at 8 o'clock tonight.  Burial tomorrow in Lutheran Cemetery.

Mary GARRY, who died yesterday at her home, 391 Marcy avenue, is
survived by her husband, John; two sons, John and William; one daughter,
Mrs. C. ELFERS; two sisters, Mrs. l. KOCK and Catharine ZORN, and one
brother, William ZORN.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday
with interment at Lutheran Cemetery under direction of James J. HUNTER,
of 354 Marcy avenue.

Paul J. CRAWFORD, of 426 Second street, died yesterday of pneumonia.  He
was a member of St. Francis Xavier's R. C. Church and was a fireman
aboard the U. S. S. Pocahontas.  He is survived by his mother, Mrs.
Margaret CRAWFORD; five sisters, Mrs. Christopher ACER, Anna, Lucie,
Theresa and Monica, and one brother, Thomas.  The funeral will be held
tomorrow afternoon at ?? o'clock from the McClean Undertaking Parlors,
263 Briggs street.  Interment  at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Requiem mass was celebrated this morning in St. Boniface's Church for
Mary J. KEEVER who died last Thursday at her home, 334 Pearl street, of
pneumonia, in her fiftieth year.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under
direction of James COWLEY, of 310 Myrtle avenue.

Caroline VALENO died last Friday at her home, 141 Diamond street.  She
was born in Brooklyn sixteen years ago and is survived by her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John VALENO, two sisters, Mary and Elenora, and one
brother, James.  The funeral will be held at 9:30  a.m. tomorrow from
her home; thence to the Church of St. Antony, in Manhattan avenue, where
requiem mass will be celebrated.  Burial in Calvary Cemetery under
direction of John K. WIEGAND, of 207 Nassau avenue.

Thomas Alvin HAIGH, of 631 Hamburg avenue, died suddenly yesterday.  He
was born in Buffalo and is survived by his parents and two brothers.
Under direction of Charles C. MAYS Sons, of 2675 Myrtle avenue, the
funeral will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mary SINNOTT GIBSON, wife of ex-Police Sergeant William GIBSON, died at
her home, 248 Albany avenue, on Saturday.  She is survived by her
husband and five sons, George, Richard, James, Martin and Arthur, and
three daughters, Catherine, Elizabeth and Mrs. Margaret ROGERS.  Requiem
mass will be celebrated in St. Gregory's Church on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of J. H. TRACY, of 1597
Fulton street.

Fannie HAHN died at her home, 183 Menahan street, of pneumonia.  She was
born in Brooklyn twenty-four years ago and was a member of the Church of
St. Barbara, where requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
She is survived by her mother, Sophie HAHN, and two brothers, Frederick
and Robert HAHN.  F. DARMSTADT & Son has charge of the burial in St.John's Cemetery.

Joseph F. YORK, who was born in Brooklyn and had lived here until
recently, died Friday at his home, 61 West 105th street, Manhattan, from
influenza.  The funeral will be held tomorrow from the home of his
mother, Mrs. Elizabeth YORK, ??? Patchen avenue.  Requiem mass will be
celebrated in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10 a.m., followed by
interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Mr. YORK was in his thirty-fourth
year and was the managing director of Donnelly's Red BookBesides
his mother, he leaves a widow, Henrietta; a daughter, Dorothy, and a
brother, Frank J.

Ella B. BAHAN, daughter of the late Jeremiah and Anna BAHAN, died
yesterday of pneumonia.  She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Fanny
WAGNER, Anna and Margaret, and one brother, Joseph.  The funeral will be
held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the home of her uncle, Thomas F. GORDON,
of 420 Forty-fourth street, thence to the Church of St. Michael, where
requiem mass will be celebrated.  Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Albert RYAN, 28 years old, died Saturday at Tompkins Cove, of pneumonia.
He was a son of the late Police Sergt. Daniel RYAN and the late Julia
RYAN.  He is survived by a sister, May.  The funeral will be held at the
home of his uncle, James ???GAN, 191 Huntington street, tomorrow at 2
p.m.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Herbert R. McGRATH, grandson of the late Henry MELIA, died last Friday
at his residence on Jerome avenue, near the Sheepshead Bay racetrack.
He was 18 years old, and is survived by his father, Dennis McGRATH, a
well-known turfman who had been with the Dwyers for years; his mother,
Mary McGRATH, a lifelong resident of the Sheepshead Bay section; his
grandmother, Ellen MELIA; a brother, Harry, and two uncles, Charles and
Harry MELIA.  He will be buried, after a requiem mass by Father
McCARTHY, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's R. C. Church.  Interment
in the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of William
Fenton, of 1844 Coney Island avenue.

Jennie E. SERGEANT, wife of Edward SERGEANT, died yesterday after a
short illness at her home, 452 Grant avenue.  She was born in old
Greenwich Village, Manhattan, and was a member of Blessed Sacrament R.
C. Church.  She is survived besides her husband, by two daughters, Edna
and Edith; her parents, Patrick and Nora GIBBONS, and two brothers,
Thomas and Joseph GIBBONS.  The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2
p.m., with interment at Calvary Cemetery under direction of P. J. DALEY
& Son, of 433 Hicks street.

Marie A. MAISCH, who died on Saturday at her home, 1878 Cornelia street,
was born in Brooklyn thirty-nine years ago and was the widow of John G.
MAISCH.  She is survived by her mother, Katherine DOEHRING.  Interment
on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery under direction of Fred
STEINMAN, of 246 Irving avenue.

Edward SPODE, born in the Twentieth Ward, Nov. 28, 1890, a son of Joseph
and Anna GALLAGHER SPODE, died on Saturday at his home, 88 Adelphi
street, of pneumonia.  He was educated at the Sacred Heart Institute,
and had been employed as a riveter at the Navy Yard for several years.
He was a member of Navy Yard Benevolent Association, the Arthur Boyle
Social Club, the Seneca Democratic Club, the Boilermakers' Union, the P.
Benzie Association, and a life member of Sacred Heart Church, where a
requiem mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. by the Rev. T. J. LEONARD.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his widow, Anna DEAN
SPODE; three brothers, Private Joseph SPODE, Jr., attached to the
Metuchen Ordinance Depot, N. J.; Private Thomas SPODE, now at Syracuse,
and Simon SPODE, and one sister, Anna.  Interment will be made in the
family plot at St. John's Cemetery under direction of William DUNIGAN &
Son, of 201 Park avenue.

Thomas F. DRENNAN, husband of Effie DRENNAN, and son of Nicholas and the
late Mary DRENNAN, died last Friday at the age of 21 at the Pelham Bay
Naval Training Station.  He will be buried from the residence of his
father, 69 Water avenue, Laurel Hill, after requiem mass at St.
Raphael's R. C. Church at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning.  Interment at
Calvary Cemetery.  He is survived by his widow, his father, and three
sisters, Mrs. J. J. MULLANEY, Mary and Anna.  The funeral ....(bottom of
