in 1866. The Right Rev. Charles E. McDONNELL, D.D., the present
diocesan head, Bishop LOUGHLIN's successor, presided at the celebration
of the golden jubilee mass of Brother Ignatius' profession in 1916.
Brother Ignatius, who is remembered with great respect and affection by

Riddleston, Rathkeale, County Limerick, Ireland. He came here in 1864
after a short stay under the direction of the Franciscan Brothers at

AGUNZZO KILLING LIKE THE BAFF CASE
That the shooting of Giro AGUNZZO in his butcher store at Court and Bergen
streets last Saturday night was another "Baff murder" is the last belief of
the police who have been investigating the case. AGUNZZO died early
yesterday morning in the Long Island College Hospital. Three of the bullets
fired in the fusillade by the two men who fled in a waiting automobile, took
effect.Detectives CLARE, RODDY and CHRISTIE, of Brooklyn headquarters,
after following up the clue afforded in the number of the machine as given
by Frank MURPHY, who ran after it and was fired upon, arrested Antonio
IRIANI, 28 years old, of 39 Bayard street. According to the police, IRIANI
admitted driving the car, but said he had no idea of what the occupants
intended, and that after the shooting, one of them forced him to drive away
at the point of a pistol. He was held without bail to-day by Magistrate
REYNOLDS in the Fifth Avenue Court. He is charged with homicide.
Frank VITETTA, a butcher, of 13(?) Smith street, who was found in the
vicinity of the shooting with a revolver in his possession, was held in $3,000
bail. He is charged with violating the weapon law. The police believed
VITETTA knows something about the case. He refuses to answer
any inquiries regarding it.
It was learned to-day that during Thanksgiving week AGUNZZO undersold
all the neighboring dealers in turkeys and fowl. As the gunmen mad no
attempt to get the money in the cash drawer, the police think the murder
may have been planned and carried out to prevent him from doing similarily
during the ante-Christmas period.
