Brooklyn Girl Sees Youth Drown at Sea
The drowning in the North Sea of John P. STALLESEN, young Danish college
graduate, on Oct. 14, marred an otherwise perfect voyage of the Scandinavian
liner- Oscar II, which docked yesterday in Hoboken with 612 passengers.
STALLESEN was drowned when he attempted to unloosen the rope of a lifeboat on
the vessel. He had signed up for a trip to study navigation as a seaman.
The only person near him when he toppled over was Elsie, daughter of Elizabeth
S0RENSON, of 515 Seventy- seventh street, Brooklyn. The girl returned with
her mother after a years tour abroad. They brought back a dog named Mussen.
A memorial service was held for STALLESEN Sunday. The Rev. A. V. STORM,
pastor of the Church of the Citadel of Copenhagen, who is here to establish a
Danish Seamen's Mission in Brooklyn, conducted the services.

Forgot to Light Jet: Found dead in chair
Fellow employees worried over his absence from work, led to the discovery
last night of the body of Herman BROHM, 54 years old of 2706 Voorhies avenue,
seated in a chair asphyxiated in the gas-filled kitchen of his home. Gas was
escaping from an open jet in the range.
BROHM was employed as superintendent of the United States Deposit
Vaults, at 275 West 125th street, Manhattan. When he did not appear at his place of
employment yesterday, George BALDWIN, of 16 Olive place, also an employe at
the vaults went to visit him. With the aid of Fire Capt. Julius DIETZMAN, who
lives in an adjoining house, at 2722 Voorhies avenue,. BALDWIN broke into the
kitchen and found BROHM dead.
