AH  LANGJAHR  FLORIST IS DEAD
Alfred H. LANGJAHR 60, of 179-15 Croyden road, Hollis died suddnely
yesterday from a heart attack while on his way to pay a New Years call to a
friend. He was the head of the Alfred H. LANGJAHR Co., wholesale florist of
59 West Twenty-seventh street Manhattan, since its inception in 1891.
LANGJAHR was a memeber of the famly which has long been the distributors
of odd and specially grown flowers. He was preparing to make a rose garden
display for the Botanical Socciety of Brooklyn.  Besides being a member of
the organization , he  was in active in the N. Y. Florist Club, the Society
of American Florist, the Rose Society of New York, and the Carnation
Society of New York .
Funeral services will be held at his home with the Rev. Andrew J. MAGILL
of the First Presbyterian  Church of Jamaica officiating. 
Internment will be private on Monday in Greenwwod Cemetery.
Mr. LANGJAHR was a member of Marcy Baptist Church of Brooklyn for many
years.  A daughter Ruth, and a son Julius survive.

MARY SEIFERT died Friday at the home of her daughter Helen PETRICH,
6511Fresh Pond road, Ridgewood . She wass born in Brooklyn sixty-nine years
ago and ived in Brooklyn and Ridgewood  all her life. She was a member of
the Chuch of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal, where a requiem mass was
celebrated today at 10 A.M. She is survived by her husband by two daughters
Helen PETRICH and Magaret STOETZEL FISHER; five grandchildren snd two great
grandchidren. Internment will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery under the
direction of Frank DARMSTADT Sons, Ccentral ave & 68th St, Glendale.

CAROLINE WENGER, born in NYC, fifty-six years ago died yesterday at
her home, 6630 Central avenue, Glendale. She was a daughter of the late
Michael and Maria WENGLER.  She is ssurvived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral Wednesday with a requiem mass at the
Church of St. Pancreas Glendale. Internment will be at Calavary Cemetery

GEORGE SIEGMUND of 78-65 Seventy-ninth lane, Glendaledied Friday in Wyckoff
Heights Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn forty-eight years ago and is
survived by his widow by his widow Mathilda LEHMANN SIEGMUND; a son Royal;
one sister Magaret and four brothers William, Frank, Frderick, and John. he
was a member of Tadmore Lodge, 923 F. & M. ; Local 1 of the Sterotypers
Union aand Ridgewood Presbyterian Church. The funeral services will be held

SOPHIE HALTERMAN of 6113 Bleeker street, died Saturday. She was born in
Germany sevennty years ago and lived in Brooklyn fifty years. She is
survived  by her husband Theodore HALTERMAN; three daughters Sophie
O'SHAUGHNESSY, Minnie HALTERMAN, and Margaret MANNING, and nnine
grandchildren.. She was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical  Reformed Church.

CHARLES LOUIS HELSTROM born sixty-four years ago in Sweden and a resident of
the United States for many years, died Wednesday at his home in
Walden, N. Y. He is survived by his wife Selma NELSON HELSTROM; six sons
Louis, Oscar, John, Carl and Edward  and a daughter Mrs. Annna ECKES.  He
was a member of the Swedish Lutheran Bethlehem Church. Funeral services were
held at ERICKSON & ERICSONS Chapel 500 State street, Saturday at 1 P. M. The
Rev. Gideon H. OLSON  officiated. 
Internment followed at Valhalla Cemtery Staten Island.

MARY A. BROWN died yesterday  at her home 1816 Fifty-ninth street in her
seventieth year. She born in Manhattan and was a life resident of NewYork
City.She is survived by her husband, WilliamB.; three daughters, Mrs. P.
CASAZZA, Mrs. E. LOUGHRAN, and Mrs. R. KILPATRICK; on son, William J. BROWN
and tow brothers. She was a member of the Church of St. Athanasius,
Sixty-second street and Bay parkway , where a requiem mass will be
celebrated at 9:30  Thursday. She was a member of  the Rosary  Society.
Internment will be at Calavary Cemetery, under the direction of James J.
SHARP, 4617 Seventh avenue.

ELIZABETH HUG died Saturday at her home  2188 Fulton street. She was born in
Germany and had been a  resident of Brooklyn for forty-nine  years. She is
survived  by her husband Alois HUG; three sons Henry, Alois Jr., and Otto;
two daughters Elizabeth aand Anna; three brothers William, Jacob, and Henry

NELLIE A. WEIR died Saturday at her home, 430 Forty-fifth street. She was
the daughter of Eliza and the late James DOYLE, and the widow of James WEIR,
formerly of MOORE & McCORMACK Steamship Co. She was born in the old Fifth
Ward and up to one year ago was a parishioner of old  St.  James
Pro-Cathedral, whereRev. Edmund REILLY  will celebrate a reqiem mass,
Tuesday, at 9:30 A. M. She is survived by two daughters Helen and Catherine
and two sons, James and Thomas. Internment at St. John's Cemetery under the

EMIL SCHERRER  died Friday in his sixty-fifth year at his home 244 Himrod
street. He is survived by his widow Rose DURR  SCHERRER; two daughters
Louise SANDOFF, and Madeline BOGART; two sons Frank and George; two sisters,
two brothers and two grandchildren.

ROSE  E.  KNOLL died last Wednesday at her home 1873 Gates avenue. She is
survived by her husband Frederick KNOLL; one daughter Bernadette KNOLL and

MARY DEVINE, mother of Rosaline DEVINE, died Friday at her home, 514 Elventh
street. The funeral wass held today at 9:30 A. M. thence to St. Saviour's

ANNIE COFFEY died Friday in Long Iisland College Hospital. She was born in
Ireland and lived at 496 Warren street. She is survived by her husband John
COFFEY and one sister Mrs. Delia CONROY of Schnectady N.Y. The funeral will
be held at 8:45 A. M. tomorrow.

PRUDENCE CONKLIN CONNOR, widow of James CONNOR died yesterday at her home,
461 Warren street. She was a life resident of Brooklyn. She was a member of
the Church of St. Agnes,  Hoyt and Sackett streets. She is survived by five
sons JamesE., Robert, David, John and Harry. The funeral services will be

ROBERT W. COLLINS, D.D. S  a surgeon dentist died Saturday. he was born in
Canada sixty-three years ago. and is survived by hsi wife Hazel CRANDALL
COLLINS; two sons Arthur W., and Henry S. one daughter Francelli;  two
brothers Dr.. Arthur E. nad Herbert; one sister Mrs. Evelyn MOORE. The

ADAM KLENZ died Friday. He was born in New York City sixty-five years ago
and is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Margaret BENZIGER, Mrs. Elizabeth
REIMUTH and Rose KLOTZHe was a member of Lieutenanats Benevolent
Association, P. D. N. Y., and the Jefferson Democratic Club. The funeral

Ireland and had been a resident of the United State for thirty-five years.
He was fifty-nine years old and was husband of the late Mary DUFFY. he is
survived by one daughter Margaret BILLERTH. The funeral will be held at 9:30
A. M.  tomorrow  from the funeral chapel of Mrs. Franncis STENGER, 289 St.

JAMES McLAUGHLIN,  born in Ireland and a resident of Brooklyn for
thirty-five years, died Friday at his home, 656 Sixtieth street. He was
formerly employed by the ARBUCKLE Sugar Company. He is survived by his widow
Bridget FEELEY McLAUGHLIN; two sons John and James and a daughter Catherine
McLAUGHLIN. The funeral will be held at 9:30 A. M..

a banker in Manhatten and Brooklyn, died yesterday in the  Neurological
Institute She was born in Hungry fifty-six years ago. Services will be held
at her late home, 1072 Park place, at 3 P. M. today. She was well known as a
charity and civic worker was foounder and president of the Metropolitan
Hoousewives' League, and was long a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the
Jewish Memorial Hospital. As a member the International Red Cross she was
decorated abroad for war work. She is survived by her husband Sanford J.
GREENBURG, and two brothers and a sister.

  Mrs. ROBINSON died Teusday at her home, 117-38 Park Lane South Kew Garden.
She was president of the Women's Missionary Socciety of the Woodhaven
church; former vice-president of the Woman's Baptist Missionary Union of
Long Island, and a member of the board of the Women's Auxiliary of the
Baptist Church Extension Societies  of Brooklyn and Queens.
  Survived by her husband Frederick ROBINSON, vice-president of the Hoagland
Allam Co., Manhatten; tow sons John and Frederick Jr.; her parents the Rev.
and Mrs.  John DONALDSON, and a sister Marian SPENCER. The Rev. DONALDSON is
pastor emeritus of the Woodhaven Baptist Church.

was born in Malin, County Donegal, Ireland, a daughter of the late William
and Mary SHIELDS, and has been a resident of Brooklyn for twenty-two years.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Society attached to the Church of St.
Joseph, where requiem mass wil be celebrated at 10 A. M. Saturday. She is
suvived by her husband Richard; one daugther Mary G.; two sisters Mrs. Mary
SULLIVAN and Mrs. Anna CAREY, and two  brothers Patrick and James SHIELDS.

born in Laught County Limerick, Ireland and had been  a resident of Brooklyn 
for the past forty years. She is survived by her husband William J. RYAN; 
one daughter Mrs. Isabel SHANAHAN and two sisters Deila and Mary HASSETT. 
She was a member of the different societies of St. Thomas Aquinas Church 
where a solemn requiem mass will be celebrated.

MARTIN HENDERER
Died Tuesday at Jacksonville, Florida, He was an old resident of Flatbush. 
He was a regular attendant at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi and 
was a member of the church societies. The funeral will take place 
from his home, 37 Hawthorne Street, Saturday at 8:30 A.M. and after 
a solemn requiem mass at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi the 
interment will be made at St. John's Cemetery under direction of 
Thomas H. IRELAND. 
 
JOSEPH HETHERINGTON
Former Senior Vice Department Commander of New York Veterans of 
Foreign Wars, (VFW) died Thursday at the Brooklyn Naval Hospital. 
He was liaison officer at the United States Veterans Bureau for 
many years. He served with the 165th Infantry during the World War 
and also saw service during the Spanish American War. Besides a widow, 
Lezzetta, he is survived by three daughters, Margaret, Edith and 
Lezzetta, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Durham and Ruth Hetherington, and 
two brothers, John and James. He was a member of Major A. 
McKenna Jr. Post No. 199, VFW and Brooklyn Council, VFW. The 
funeral services will be held tonight at the United States Naval 
Hospital chapel. Interment will take place tomorrow at 10:30 A.M. 
at the National Cemetery. 
 
AGOSTINO CAFIERO
Died yesterday at her home, 1816 Avenue K. He was an importer and 
was 36 years old. He is survived by his widow, Elvira, and two sons.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 A.M. tomorrow with requiem mass at 
the Church of Our Lady of Refuge. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 
Under direction of Louis Sessa, 102 President Street. 
 
SIMON CONWAY
Died Wednesday at his home, 139 Sullivan Street. He is survived by his widow, 
Hannah CONWAY. He was born in Ireland and had been a resident of Brooklyn 
for many years, and a parishioner of the Church of the Visitation, 
where requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. tomorrow.

Died yesterday at her home, 1459 Bushwich Avenue. She was born in 
Manhattan and had been a resident of the Bushwich section for several

A resident of NYC for the past 62 years, died Friday at his home, 
102 Stuben Street. He was born in Bremen, Ant Lebe, Province of 
Hanover, Germany, the son of the late Henry and Lucey Tinken BENTER. 
He was for the greater part of his life active in business in the 
Wallabout section of this city, retiring from business several years ago. 
He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Washington Avenue.

He was born in Greenpoint 49 years ago and is survived by his wife., Freda E.

Mrs. Emma SMITH, Mrs. Ida HATCH. He joined the police department in 1906 having 
been stationed in the telegraph bureau a number of years. In 1930 he was made a

member of Greenpoint Lodge, 4303 F and AM, Police Square Club, Sergeants Association, 
Patrolmens Benevolent Association and the Honor Legion. Masonic services will

F.D. MACKAY 
LAID TO REST
Prominent sportsmen and public officials were among the 500 in attendance at 
funeral services for Frederick D. MacKay, well- konwn clubman, horse fancier 
and vice-president of E.W. Bliss and Co., at his home, 411 Grand Avenue, yesterday. 
Mr. MacKay who was president of the Riding and Driving Club of Brooklyn, died at 
his home last Thursday after an illness of a week. 
The Rev. Dr. S. Parkes Cadman, pastor of the Central Congregational Church, 
who officiated, eulogized Mr. Mackay by pointing out the benevolent attitude 
he always manifested to those in his employ, as well as his many benefactions, 
his interest in public affairs and his devotion to animals.
Among those present at the funeral were Marcus Campbell, judge of the 
U.S. District Court; Mortimer B. Byers, judge of the U.S. District Court; 
Fremont C. Peck, ex-U.S. Senator and Mrs. William M. Calder, William F. Hagarty, 
Supreme Court Justice of the Appellate Division, and James C. Van Siclen.

FINAL REQUIEM FOR J.A. ALLEN
Requiem mass for John A. Allen, who died Sunday at his home, 31-75 29th St. 
LIC, will be celebrated at the Church of the Precious Blood, Astoria, at 
11 am tomorrow. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. 
Mr. Allen was a resident of LIC for the past 50 years and father-in-law of 
Thomas C. Kadien, Jr., Municipal Court Justice. He was active in Queens 
politics more than 20 years ago during the regime of Borough President Cassidy.
Mr. Allen was born in Greenpoint but moved to LIC early in his youth. 
He was a member of the old Star Athletic club and as trainer of oarsmen of 
the Ravenswood Boat Club turned out many winning crews years ago. His last
position was as fire protection engineer for the Foamite Company. 
He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Mary Kadien and Jeanette Allen. and a son, 
Robert J. Allen of California.

survived by mother and brothers, William and Howard; sisters, 
Mrs. G. B. PRUDEN and Mrs., H.J. Hicks. Funeral services at 
the home of his brother Howard COOTS, 99 Gravesend ave., 
corner Seeley st., Bklyn., Sunday at 2 P.M. 
Interment Greenwood Cemetery.
