Excursion of the Eckford Social Club
Brooklyn Union-Argus Tuesday 22 July 1879 The steamer General Sedgwick and two barges carried an exceedingly large party, composed of the members of the Eckford Social Club and their friends, to Oriental Grove yesterday, the occasion of the annual excursion of the club. The sail up the East River and on the Sound was much enjoyed. The excursionists landed at the grove at half-past one o'clock and spent three hours there very pleasantly. The city was reached on the return at eight o'clock, on a trip at which not the slightest event to cause even an unpleasant feeling occurred. The day's programme was carried out under the direction of the following committees: Executive Committee-A. R.
