Excursion of the Eckford Social Club
Brooklyn Union-Argus
Tuesday 22 July 1879

The steamer General Sedgwick and two barges carried an exceedingly large
party, composed of the members of the Eckford Social Club and their
friends, to Oriental Grove yesterday, the occasion of the annual
excursion of the club.

The sail up the East River and on the Sound was much enjoyed.

The excursionists landed at the grove at half-past one o'clock
and spent three hours there very pleasantly. The city was reached on the
return at eight o'clock, on a trip at which not the slightest event to
cause even an unpleasant feeling occurred.
