UNDERGROUND COPS
Brooklyn Standard Union
5 October 1905

UNDERGROUND COPS A UNIQUE BODY
The Underground Cops were the feature of the evening at the eleventh annual
masque and civic ball of Court Unique, No. 369, Foresters of America, held
at Lutz's Teutonia Hall, Harrison avenue and Bartlett street. The Court is
composed of many prominent bowlers of the Williamsburg section and stands as
a leader in the Eastern District Foresters' League, having won eight games
out of ten rolled. They have the highest score of 885 and the highest
individual score of 236, while the team average stands at 737.

The underground police force consists of the sons of these bowlers.
They have been trained, drilled and coached by their captain,
Louis HOERGER;
Gustav SCHNEIDER,
William MONAGHAN and William F. KOTTEMANN.

The Underground Cops led the grand march at the ball, headed by Capt.
HOERGER, followed by over 500 couples. The affair was the most successful
ever attempted by the members, over 2,000 persons being present.
The net profits of the affair amounted to $777, which puts the Court on a
financial standing of over $9,000. Court Unique is considered the strongest
and most popular in the order and has a membership of 275.
