KNIGHTS TEMPLAR
The Knights Templar are an monastic military order formed at the end of the first crusade. Having all taken monastic vows the Knights Templar were true Warrior Monks, dedicated to spreading the word of God to the known world. This dedication took them to the lands of Persia and Syria, where they fought alongside Richard the Lionhearted. Taken from the "Overview Of Templar History" The Knights Templar were without a doubt the single most influential and powerful of the religious military orders that sprang up as a result of the crusades. Although younger than their rivals "The Order of the Hospital," as a monastic institution, the Templars were the first to add a military face to monasticism. http://www.templarhistory.com/history.html The Knights Templar today: http://www.knightstemplar.org/ RETURN to SOCIETY Main RETURN to BROOKLYN MAIN
