ADELPHI WILL BE ‘COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL’

Moving Plans Announced
Miss Ruth BAKER Honored at Graduation

   Plans eventually to move Adelphi Academy to the property acquired two years
ago at Rocky Hill road and Jamaica parkway, Queens, were announced at the
commencement exercises last night in Robinson Hall, by James H. POST,
president of the board of trustees. The property will be developed as an
athletic field this summer and the junior and senior school divisions are
expected to be established there as a 'country day school' next year.

   Forty-six students were graduated last night. 
Miss Ruth M. BAKER of 558 First street, was acclaimed the most illustrious 
member of the class. She received the Barlow medal, the highest scholastic 
honor of the Academy. In addition, she was awarded the Latin medal given 
by the Classical Club of New York, and 
with Lucy RAUCH, received the Herbert W. Scott debating trophy. 
Miss BAKER with Miss RAUCH, also won first first honors in the class of 
’91 prize for public speaking. She is a cum laude student. She was 
also among those receiving a prize for good citizenship and a 
certificate of merit.

M. Felix WEILL, secretaire-generale of the Alliance Francaise, was also present, 
making award of the Alliance Francaise medal for the third or fourth year 
student showing the greatest proficiency in the study of the French language 
and literature. It was received by Miss Jean WRIGHT.
   Miss WRIGHT also won the Charles F. Lehrenkrauss cup for the highest
scholarship shown during the year and the award for home science.

   Miss Beatrice CHAMPLIN and Frederic COLLINS were the senior boy and girl to
have their names inscribed on the bronze tablet listing the names of those
each year who uphold in their life and school work the ideals and traditions
of the Academy.

   Miss Jane H. BARNES of the third year class received the Spanish medal. 

-The Charles Palmer Davis award presented for excellence in the study of 
current events by the American Education Press was won by 
Miss Josephine H. HARKAVY of the first year class. 

-The Herbert W. Scott award for highest honors in
mathematics was awarded Miss Muriel B BUTTLING of the fourth year class.

Second honors in the Class of ’91 prize for public speaking went to the third
year team comprising Miss Marsia PRICE and Miss Edith GOLDBLOOM.

-   Latin medals given for effort, scholarship and worthy conduct went to
