Twenty Local and Long Island Graduates to Get Diplomas Friday
   Twenty Brooklyn and Long Island boys will receive diplomas at the 163rd
annual commencement of Rutgers University at the Rivoli Theatre, New
Brunswick, N.J., next Friday morning.
   On Thursday afternoon the annual class day exercises will be held in
Kirkpatrick Chapel and, as part of the programme, 
Kingsley CHILDS of Brooklyn, will give the class history. 
Wednesday night the annual senior ball will be
held in Ballantine gymnasium, and on the committee are four Brooklyn and 
Long Island men-
Walter A. BEAUDEL of Rockville Centre; 
Norman F. BUTLER, of Flushing; 
William H. DUTCHER, of Brooklyn and CHILDS.

   Outstanding among the score of Brooklyn and Long Island seniors is 
Stanley Tex ROSEN, of Long Beach, who formerly attended New Utrecht H.S. 
ROSEN is the seventh four-letter athlete in the history of the college, 
having been honored for football, baseball, basketball and track. 
When he leaves, he will take with him nine varsity letters, three for 
football, three for baseball, two for basketball and one for track, and 
also three sets of numerals received for football, baseball and track 
in his freshman year. 
He was voted the best athlete in the recent class balloting.

   Brooklyn and Long Island boys, who will graduate and their activities

Graduates

[RUTGERS] UNIVERSITY CONFERS 290 DEGREES AT 163rd COMMENCEMENT
   NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J., June 7—Twenty Brooklyn and Long Island men are among
the 290 who received degrees at the 163rd annual commencement of Rutgers
University, held at the Rivoli Theatre here this morning. Of the 290, seven
were honorary, forty-seven advanced, twenty for extension courses in education
and 216 received baccalaureate degrees. Nineteen of the Brooklynites and Long
Islanders received baccalaureate degrees and one was honored for extension
work in education.

   The honorary degree of doctor of laws was conferred upon Gov. Morgan F.
LARSON of New Jersey.

   Peter J. J. TRIOANO, graduated of New Utrecht High School, graduated with
honors, receiving the Litt B. degree. He is a star athlete. 

Otto N. SCHUSTER of Jamaica, a junior, was designated a second lieutenant 
in the infantry of the Reserve Officers Training Corps, 

Four other Brooklyn and Long Island boys, 
TRIANO, 
George T. PALEY, a sophomore; 
William H. DUTCHER, a senior, and Ernest R. SCHULTZ, of Woodhaven, a junior, 
will be honored with commissions as second lieutenants upon completion of 
their course at the Plattsburg Camp this summer.
