From War of Rebellion Registers and Sketches of Organizations page 1843 NINTH REGIMENT OF INFANTRY Reorganizing May 29, 1863, Maj. E Jardine received authority to reorganize the 9th Infantry, mustered out May 20, 1863, by reason of expiration of its term of service for a three year service. The men enlisted served New York City during the Draft Riots in July, 1863, Under Major Jardine, who was wounded, and in consequence unable to effect the reorganization. October 14, 1863, the men so far enlisted were transferred to the 17th Veteran Infantry, and reorganization discontinued. To assist in the reorganization the fowlling were appointed but not commissioned by the Govenor: COLONEL Edward J.
