Brooklyn Standard Union 25 Jan. 1905 CHEERS FOR ROOSEVELT AT IRISH DINNER The annual meeting and dinner of the American Irish Historical Society was held at the Hotel Manhattan, Forty-second street, Manhattan, last night. President ROOSEVELT, a member of the society, lent his regrets, adding that on March 17 he is expected to attend the dinner of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, to be held at Delmonico's. the 250 diners gave three rousing cheers for Roosevelt as they stood up to toast the "best President the United States ever had." The following officers were elected: President, John D. CRIMMINS; vice-president, Joseph T. LAWLESS, Norfolk, Va.; secretary, T.H. MURRAY,Boston; treasurer, John C. LINEHAN, Concord, N.H. Police Commissioner MCADOO was toastmaster. In his speech Mr. MCADOO made it plain that he has no intention of resigning despite the storm of criticism that has recently centered about him. "I am not a quitter," he said, "and I do not intend to cry baby. I have always taken care of myself, and I feel that I can give an accounting of myself now."
