ALLEGED PICKPOCKETS PROTEST IN COURT
Samuel BLOOM and Charles COHEN, who are said by the police to be
expert pickpockets, were arrested Friday night by Detectives J. J.
McCLOSKY and John J. BRADY, who found them on the rear platform of a
Broadway car. A dazed man had just left the car in question and had
evidently come to a realization that he had been robbed of both
jewelry and cash. The prisoners had lots of money in their pockets
when searched, and when taken before Magistrate DOOLEY in the Adams
street court yesterday, entered a strong protest through their counsel
of being held as vagrants when they had money and a home. Despite the
protest, Magistrate DOOLEY held them in $500 bail, which was
furnished.

HERKIMER TO PAY HIS WIFE $75 A MONTH
Dr. Robert H. HERKIMER, chief sanitary inspector of Brooklyn, who recently
instituted proceeding against his wife in connection with the custody of
their 11 year old daughter, Olivia, and who in turn has been charged by Mrs.
HERKIMER with making presents of pink silk hose to other women, has agreed
to settle the case out of court. This action on the part of Dr. HERKIMER is
due to the friendly intervention of Rev. Father NASH of the Sacred Heart
Roman Catholic Church in Clermont avenue.
The understanding arrived at provides that Olivia is to live with her mother
at 113th street, Manhattan, and is to see her father from Friday until
Sunday each week and half of vacation time in summer. The doctor is to pay
his wife $75 a month, and no further legal steps, so far as known, will be taken.

WRONG TOOTH PULLED; WOMAN AWARDED $400
Mrs. Sarah E. SWANSON, of Macon Street, near Ralph Avenue, has
secured a judgement of $400 against a Brooklyn dentist for pulling
a sound tooth. The verdict was within $100 of the sum asked by the
teacher, and made her smile when court adjourned, despite the pain
she claims she still feels in her jaw. It is said to be the largest
judgement ever recovered for pulling the wrong tooth.

WORTH'S ESTATE WILLED TO HIS TWO SONS
The will of Jacob WORTH, who died at Hot Springs, Ark. Feb. 21,
was entered in the Surrogate's office this morning for probate.
It is dated Dec. 13, 1898, and is witnessed by
Frederick W. BURMEYER and John M. CAHILL.
By the terms of the will the entire estate,
both personal and real, ultimately goes to his two sons.
Augustus M. and Lewis R. WORTH. The last named and
Hugo HIRSH are made executors and trustees. They are
directed to take over the entire property, and when
Augustus M. Worth comes of age the entire estate is
to be divided equally between them, with the exception
of the flats on Humboldt Street, the house at 94 Lee Avenue,
and the house at Saratoga Springs, which are to be enjoyed
by his widow, Theresa WORTH, so long as she lives or
remains a widow. In the event of her death or remarriage
these properties are to revert to the two sons or their
heirs. The papers on file state that the real estate
"does" exceed $10,000 and that the personal property "does"
exceed the same sum.
