RIVERHEAD HOLDINGS
The County Clerk's Office and the Surrogate's Court are both in the County Center at Riverhead. They have land records and post 1787 probate records for the whole county. The County Clerk's office also has marriage licenses for the county covering 1908 to 1935, and naturalization records for the county. Other vital records are duplicate filed, once with the local town or village clerks and once with the State Health Dept., but they only start coverage from 1881. So the only ones for these which would be in Riverhead would be for events occurring in Riverhead. The Suffolk County Historical Society is also in Riverhead, and it has censuses for the county on microfilm, transcripts of various cemetery and church records, old newspapers, much genealogical information on old county families, and a wide range of other items which might be helpful.
