CALEDONIAN Hospital Gives Diplomas to 23 Young Women
27 May 1931 Brooklyn Standard Union NURSES CREATE FUND TO HONOR NORA YOUNG The creation of an endowment fund in recognition of the services of Nora E. YOUNG, superintendent of Caledonian Hospital was announced by Miss Henrietta RYAN, president of the hospital alumnae at commencement exercises last night. Twenty-three students of the training school received their diplomas in the auditorium of the nurses' home, 45 Woodruff avenue. The endowment fund, it is designed, will provide a yearly medal to a pupil nurse, a personal service medal every five years for out- standing performance without pay, and the giving of blood transfusions to the poor should the principal of the fund reach $10,000. The directors of the hospital already have made an initial contribution of $500 to the fund. The Irving Trust Company has been named trustee. Earl P. WATKINS, superintendent of schools, Herkimer County, made the address to the graduates. Other speakers were Dr. Joseph TENOPYR and Gerald CAMPBELL, British Counsul General. Miss Marie BEHLIN, superintendent of nurses, presented the diplomas and school pins. The Hippocratic oath was administrated by Dr. William JEWETT. The invocation was pronounced by the Rev. Wallace GARDNER, pastor of St. Paul's Church, and the Rev. Francis A. FITZGERALD, of the Holy Innocents' Church, said the convocation. D. G. C.
